So I came across this job title when browsing about substitute teaching. One very large district (not an outsourcing company) lists the position as "Temporary Instructor."
Anybody hear of other alternative names for substitute teacher?

"guest teacher" is pretty common. There is one person on this forum who says "supply teacher" which is a term I've never heard anywhere else.

Good to know! I lived there for 7 years, but it must have never come up in conversation then. (I was neither teaching nor a student during that time.)

I'm wondering if it did reference substitute teacher. I was hired on a short term basis to coach students on test taking strategies before standardized tests were administered. It might refer to that sort of at need assignment. Of course, I got sub pay, not the $35/hour teacher stipend.
