Interview at same school

Hey all,
I have finally gotten an interview after one year off of teaching (I resigned) at a school I interviewed with 2 years ago.
I have a few concerns.
1. How do I approach this interview? I have been there and interviewed there before, do I bring it up?
2. How do I explain my absence in teaching? I have not been in a classroom since last year and I resigned from that position due to a family emergency. This position was 2 hours away from my home and family.
3. How do I explain my absence from teaching? I had a HORRIBLE time at my first position and that led to my resignation. I was not treated fairly, the administration was lacking, and I was miserable (It was an inner city school).

Thanks for the advice!

Congratulations on your interview.

I wouldn't bring up the previous interview unless they do. If they do I would just say how excited you are to be interviewing again since it's such a terrific school with a great reputation, blah, blah, blah.

I've never had a school ask about previous emplyment but if they would do I would say you resigned due to a family emergency that was 2 hours away. The severity of the emergency and the distance required your resignation. Fortunately, everything is fine now and you look forward to dedicating 110% to the classroom. NEVER say ANYTHING negative about your previous school-no matter how badly it sucked!

Let us know how it goes!

Greyhound girl said exactly what I was thinking. I agree with her responses. Good luck! I hope it goes well

I agree with Greyhound girl on all points.

In an interview, don't go into detail at all about the nature of the family emergency, just that there was one, and that it's now been resolved so it will not be a problem going forward.

And so true- never say anything bad about a former employer or a former employment situation in a job interview.

Thanks for the advice.
I never intended to bring anything up about my last school, just trying to give some background information.
I feel as though this may be my one last shot at getting a teaching job and I want to be prepared for every possible scenario.

While I can understand the above, please don't say it or think it again.

You never, ever know.

Wishing you the very best on your interview.

When is it? Hope you will have wonderful news to share with us soon!
