I got an interview!!!!!!

I am so thankful! I am signed out for obvious reasons ... I have been at the same school for a few years now, but after going through a divorce and living hours away from any family, I'm ready to relocate. However, I,m worried that I'll be at a disadvantage since it's been so long since I have interviewed, and I have never interviewed with such a large district.

Can anyone offer any advice? What should I expect from a large district's interview panel? What should I bring with me?

Thank you for the help, PT friends! (I am a frequent poster... I know you guys will come through!)

I'm sure the same things! I would bring an up to date resume with me and the most positive outlook I can.

Of course research the curriculum and methodologies they use (Capturing Kids' Hearts, Harry Wong, Reading First...whatever...) and know your stuff! I also reasearch the most commonlt asked interview questions for teachers and study those. They are pretty universal. DO those things and you will do great!

I am assuming you have sent this district your resume and letters of recommendation. I would take along copies anyway. You might want to refer to the letters of recommendation if it pertains to a question they ask. "As my principal stated in his letter to your district, I am very organized/I serve on many district committees/etc."

I would also take (in an organized binder):
--examples of ways you communicate with parents (emails with names removed especially positive ones, newsletters, etc.).
--photos of your classroom (showing organization, kids enjoying a science experiment, bulletin boards, kids dressed as book characters, etc.).
--lesson plans for a science or social studies unit.
--lesson plans for a week.
--list of professional books you have read in the last two years.
--list of staff development you have attended...both district and out of district.
--list of classes you have taken since you began teaching.

I am sure others will add other items that might be in this binder.

I am praying (and keeping my finger crossed) for you!! Good luck!!
