Hi Guys! wow! it's been a while since I've visited PT... life has really hit me in the face lately, but that's another story for another board...here's my situation/question:
I am the new Title I Reading Interventionist and RtI specialist at our Elem. school (we just hired a teacher for the Math portion-yay!) and my principal is wanting to schedule some time for "pull-out" everyday for both subjects for our most academically-needy students (K-5)
She was calling this time "Power Hour", but she would really like to call it something different than that.
If you have a pull-out/intervention time at your school, what do you call it?
that problem while typing up a schedule to post in the classroom. I decided to call it READ time (Reading Enrichment And Development). Since our school is switching to a grade level, "walk-to" model for intervention, we don't have an official name for this time yet so I made up my own.
My school called it Enrichment. It was used for any interventions/RtI time/enrichment but we gave it the name Enrichment because no matter the student's level and what they were working on it was enriching their education. It sounds nice and positive too.
We were going for Explorations since the kids were exploring their abilities to learn in RTI .... I liked it but my principal is so analytic it was named Learning Lab
We have several different names for it based on the grade level. At the upper levels, it is simply RTI, the lower levels it is called WIN (What I Need) and at the very lowest grade level it is called superhero time with the connection being SuperWhy. Good luck!
