Hi everyone - I thought I'd share a laugh with you tonight. This morning in 2nd grade we were playing the game Equation Dice in pairs. Each pair of kids had a set of dice and were busy rolling away and recording the equations. After about 10 minutes a little girl comes to me - very serious - and tells me that she and her partner are getting a 5 in every single equation. I nicely said that that was not possible every time, was she sure they were doing it right. She said yes and handed me one of the die....and guess what - every side had 5 on it! I burst out laughing and explained to her what was wrong. I didn't know I owned such a thing and it was just mixed in with all my other dice. I'd add a smiley face here but I don't know how!! Enjoy your night.

Thanks for sharing that...I bet you that 2nd grader will remember that particular lesson for awhile and associate it with fun!
If you are interested-go to the left of where you type your posts and you'll see the faces. Put your cursor where you want the smilie to go and then click on the face you want. Does that make sense?

Sounds like a trick dice you can get in Vegas! You can buy dice sets there that always roll a 7, because once dice has all 5s and the other dice has all 2s...

Oh, Sawyer is just so darn cute!! Those dimples!!!
I love the story, too. It'd be good to have one of those 'special' die for every number. It would help with the facts.

You can make your own dice. They have blank plastic ones in teacher's stores/catalogs, of course. I have used wooden cubes, a permanent marker and/or labels to create dice of many kinds. I had a set of them for math manips so I just used those. You can probably find wooden cubes at Home Depot?
