Grammar Bootcamp

Anyone have a good unit plan for a grammar bootcamp. Before I start writing workshop this year, I would like to do a grammar bootcamp for the first few weeks. It is no exaggeration when I say many of my incoming 6th graders do not know subject/predicate when they get into my class.

Thanks

I love the title of a grammar bootcamp! It is my opinion that kids never remember grammar terms because we teach a grammar mini lesson and rarely refer back to the terms we teach them. How often do we really say "predicate"? I think I'm going to go with a review of complete sentence and run on sentences, but then I am moving on to some paragraph writing.

I love the name grammar boot camp, too! Would the old Schoolhouse Rock videos give you a head start?

Grammar Boot Camp - Writers' Workshop

I just took a week long Writers Workshop based on the TC model. Jeff Anderson wrote a ton of ideas about grammar in writing. Google some by Jeff Anderson. He wrote Mechanically Inclined and his new book, 10 Things Every Writer Needs to Know.
I've attached some sites for you to look at with great ideas.
