As part of our ELA program, 2nd grade does OG. If you use it at your school, how much time does it take?

I'm HOPING to go to the training this summer, but that's only if the district approves the class. It's over $1100, so that's not an option for me to pay myself.

I just found out I'm moving to 2nd, and I'm sure I can ask that team of teachers but I'm already going to bombard them with questions so I thought I'd ask here first to get an idea.

It takes as much time as your willing to put into it. I try to have 15 minute small groups daily. The low level learners will need more time than higher level learners. The training is well worth the money. There are some good YouTube video that you can watch also to help if you can't go to the training. It is over whelming at first. Don't get frustrated, take it slow, learn the program as you progress through.

I was fortunate to get OG training paid for in the past. Get it if you can.
It is usually taught in small groups for about 30-40 minutes daily.
It is very effective. My most success was teaching two non-reading 5th graders to read in a little less than a school year. One of them didnít even understand that the letters had sounds and sounds made words. It was great to see it click in one day. OG really helps.
