In CA, log in to Commission on Teacher Credentialing, pay the fee, and you're set.

No certification as such but fingerprinting/background check with DOE must be renewed every five years.

Pay the fee and renew. I don't think there needs to be anything else done. As a retired teacher, I don't even have to pay the fee!! YAY!!

Actually...in CA, along with paying an annual renewal fee, you also have to answer questions, pertaining to any criminal convictions, termination or suspension of employment, etc. There's a short waiting period before your renewal is approved...I believe because there's an updated background check.

Anyone else have to have a certain amount of sub hours under their belt as part of the renewal process AND take some renewal classes within your district?!?

We have to do blood borne pathogen. I also sub as an SEA also, so I have some CE that has to be done every year, usually online.
