Google/PowerPoint question

I downloaded some editable word games into my Google Drive. They were created in PowerPoint and can be edited in PPT. However, I can't figure out how to make them editable in Google. The only program that "wants" to open them is Docs. I've tried to connect Slides, but no go. Suggestions?

I think you probably need to download them to PPT if they were done in PPT.

They should be able to open in Slides since they were made in PPT. If you click on the PPT file to open it, you should see an option to open with Slides at the top. But it sounds like you may have tried that so I'm not sure...does it only show Docs at the top when you click on the file?

Yes, Google does suggest opening only with Google Docs. I've connected Slides, but it doesn't show in the pull-down menu. I also went directly to Slides and made it open the file, so I can see everything, but the file isn't editable. FWIW, the directions on the original file say to open it with Adobe Acrobat, so now I'm wondering whether I can force the file in Drive to open using Acrobat. Got any other ideas? I'm thinking my clever idea to save these in Drive isn't so clever after all, boo-hoo.

So is the file named as .ppt or .pdf? If it's named as a pdf then I think it can only be edited in Adobe Acrobat. You may be able to edit it in your Drive with a pdf reader too (if you don't have Acrobat).

Ladybug, I think you're right. I'll try using Acrobat to open the file stored in Drive and see whether that works. If not, I can always go onto the providers' web sites and edit/print there. I was just trying to keep from digging around on the web. (and in the process, created a whole lot of digging around! )

We had some issues with editable pdf files we saved in our Google Drives. We found that we have to download them to our computer and open them with Adobe for them to be editable. They are not editable in Preview Mode-you must download and open the download.
