My now 2nd graders are learning it. Some know. Some don't. It's part of our standards, so by the end of 2nd grade, yes, they should have all 3 mastered to 1000.

They must be able to count forward and backwards by 10's from ANY given number. 16, 26, 36... 134, 144, 154... 891, 881, 871...

Very difficult. I'm not sure how far the 10's by any given number extends to. Maybe not 1,000, but we definitely go past 100!

Counting by 10's is a kindergarten standard. I'd expect first graders to be able to do the other two. We do them all in kinder, but just expect 1's and 10's to mastery.

sbkanga5~But how far do they have to go? My 2nd graders come to me "somewhat" knowing how to get to 100, but definitely not past that (2's and 5's). 10's, then can go a BIT farther, but easily get confused.

I remember learning to count by 2's (odds & even numbers) when I was in 1st grade myself.
I assume counting by 5's is learned in 1st grade as well, if counting by 2's is
