I am miserable. What can I do to get some relief until I can get in to the dentist? Ibuprofen isn't helping at all.

If you think its infected call the dentist. If he or she calls in some antibiotics you should be feeling much better after just 2 or 3 doses.

Try Anbesol on a Q-tip applied directly to the area of soreness. Should relieve pain until you can get to a dentist.

Get some Oragel. I carry Oragel in my purse because toothache pain is the worst. It numbs the pain.

Try Tylenol...they are using it at the hospital as an alternative to opioid pain meds. I found warm salt water rinses sometimes helped. Do called the dentist ASAP.

If you think it's infected, go to urgent care and get antibiotics. No pain medication will make it feel better. You can tell if it's infected because the pain will be constant, it will get steadily worse, it will hurt to eat hot foods and it would hurt to press down on the tooth. It doesn't feel like the general ache of a cavity at all.

My friend swears by clove oil for toothaches.

Have you tried an ice pack? Maybe it will relieve swelling and give you some relief.

Thank you! Hopefully it will be a calm night and I can deal with it tomorrow. It comes and goes, but when it comes I can't even think straight! Hoping to hit one of those immediate dental care places--and hoping they provide decent care!

If you have a regular dentist, I would start by calling first thing in the morning. Often for a regular patient, dentists will fit you in that day in an emergency.

I'm bracing for it to hit at any moment, but I have been pain-free for about 12 hours. No luck with my regular dentist. Even emergencies are a few days wait
