and I'm okay. I remember a week before Christmas when I was teaching and how overwhelmed I was between school, home, shopping etc. Boy it's nice to be retired.

I was recently wondering how I ever was ready for Christmas when I worked full time! But I always was.

I think since I retired I actually do things very slowly. I think I have an unrealistic impression that I have plenty of time. I don't. I'm still hosting my family on Christmas Eve for brunch and dinner, have gifts to wrap, groceries to buy, activities with grandchildren, and some parties to go to. I'm happy to do all these things, but I need to readjust by personal clock to busy season time, not retirement time, at this time of year.

So agree with the OP. So nice to be retired!!! I mapped out the 2 weeks before Christmas so I have a plan of what I need to accomplish or do each day except Sundays, even if it’s just about what cookies I am making that day. I am so happy not to be working this week anymore. God bless teachers!

I was just thinking that as I drove passed my school a few minutes ago. My DH has been super helpful this year. He retired in April. He is actually planning some things. (Well, a pub crawl) I need a daily plan like Zipline.

I am not totally stressed yet. I love being able to shop when stores are not crowded. I usually only do a little bit at a time since I have retired. I think I have purchased all the gifts. I am still doing a small bit of sewing/machine embroidery projects for gifts, but most are already done. I just need to get them tagged/filled/wrapped. DH is supposed to be making two of the kids a wood workshop type gift, but I am not sure that's actually going to happen this year.

My dd came over today to wrap gifts. I was able to give her my office to herself (ie, no helpful kitty), a big plastic tub full of wrapping paper, ribbon, and accessories, extra tape, and scissors. I could find everything with no problem. I am so organized!

And I have all my shopping done, except for getting a pomegranate for ddilís stocking...and the fruit market guy claims that if I come in Thursday he will have one put aside for me.
