Thank you! I sure hope that rainbow brightens your day, too. You got to take a walk? Then having dinner with family, I think.

I am fixing for my parents. My aunt will stop in later, but it is just the 3 of us. It is nice seeing my mom and dad, but that means I am not seeing my kids and dh. Hopefully there are many more for us, but not so sure about parents. No guarantees either way, so taking advantage of as much as I can now.

All holidays have a bittersweet taste when we can't share them with our loved ones....but Amiga, you have to "always look on the bright side of life." That's my motto. Easier said than done, I know, but try to enjoy the day. Wish I could join you and have one of those turkey cupcakes. Your dd is indeed a gifted cook! We'll meet back here on PT in a few days and moan about how much weight we put on over this weekend! Boo hiss! But 'tis the season I suppose, so I'm not going to stress over it. You have accomplished a great deal in the last year and so give yourself a big hug and a pat on the back! I'm grateful to have you as a friend, even if it's just on PT!

The first Thanksgiving my sister was gone, I had to leave the table for a while.

Now that both parents and my sister have passed, thereís always a corner or my heart that is tender. Thanks for the rainbows. Godís gift, you know.

And my mom and dadís oven cannot be heating to what it says. My turkey is still not done - an hour and a half after the printed done time...or the thermometer is stuck. Turkey not looking brown enough, so it isnít the thermometer.

When the holidays are over. We tend not to make a big deal of them and lay low. I have a son that is estranged from us. It is getting somewhat easier though. Peace to you Amiga.

This is indeed a hard day. I miss family members who are no longer here and have had enough drama with relatives that are around. Thanks for the lovely photos.

my children, but glad to be around my SO's family. Just thinking that we are suddenly those old people who come to the holiday dinners. Finally get to sit at the adult table, but thinking the kids' table is having way more fun.

Hope you feel better.

Awww, I'm sorry, amiga! Holidays can be really hard when you see everyone posting about their wonderful get togethers with family and friends. My FB page today is full of pictures of happy families and big meals. I'm happy for them, but I know from experience that people who are alone today may not feel as happy as the ones in the photos. DH and I had a nice brunch with DD#1 and BF at a restaurant, but I'm happy to be back home and just sit by the fire and listen to the rain. I love your rainbow photos!

We most always spend Thanksgiving with my husband's family (one brother in particular). Since he committed suicide 2 months ago, we thought SIL and their kids should spend the holiday with her parents and didn't want to intrude. It's just not the same and I miss my BIL a lot.

Plus, my son goes to college 2 states away. He hasn't been home in a few years for Thanksgiving since he played basketball (now he coaches) due to their schedule. I just really miss him but he'll be home for 3 weeks soon.

I just want to be alone and watch football. DH is hanging out with his son in our mancave. No thanks.

I'm having an OK day with family. Your rainbow pictures made it nicer.

Part of me would be happy just to be resting and quiet at home.

So sorry your holiday is sad. And thank you for the beautiful rainbow pictures. My mom's birthday was the 26th and now Thanksgiving... It's just too much. It should be easier after 13 years but it's not.

Thank you for sharing that beautiful rainbow. Its hard not being with DD at holidays, especially since we always worry about her. We miss our parents as well. None are living.
