Best gift youíve gotten...

In this busy time, I thought we could use stories of gifts from the heart. Not necessarily free gifts, but something that really touched your heart at the time.

Mine has to be the one of two gifts from my sister.

The first is the picture my sister had blown up and framed of us as children. On Santa’s lap, I was an angel, her...not so much! No brother, so this must have been in 1958.

The other is this piece of needlework. I love to do all kinds of needlework, most from patterns. I have made all but four as gifts, including a self designed wedding piece for a friend. Dear sister does not do ANY kind of needlework. She felt badly that I don’t have my own pieces, so she made this stamped piece for me.

Best gift

My son gave me a gift when he was three. He found a tube of lipstick in a shopping cart. He wrapped it up and wrote sweet things on the box. He told me it would make me more beautiful! Ahhh! I never used the lipstick, but I put it under my tree every year.

Almost three years ago, my DGD daughter was born three days after Christmas.

My aunt gave me a sweet stuffed dog when I was 7. That dog was my best friend forever! It sits in my closet. My DGD pulls her out to play with once in awhile.

My husband made this for me a few years ago when the pallet crafts were popular. It makes me smile every day.

This was for my birthday, but it's my favorite of all time. My DH got me a nook. He picked it out with a cover and all. He was such a bad gift giver that this stands out as a perfect gift.

There are more but these stand out.
My father bought me a pair of earrings the Christmas I was 18. I got ears pierced on my 18th birthday, and boy was he mad! I guess those earrings were his way of admitting I could make my own decisions.

On Christmas of 2016 my brother gave me my momís rolling pin. I cherish that.

This was not for Christmas, but for my college graduation.

My Dad and I went to the same college about 1 1/2 hours from my hometown. Dad and I would write letters back and forth probably about once a week when I was in college. We also attended all of the home football games for all four years I attended the university. My dad made me a scrapbook that included all of the letters he and I wrote, ticket stubs, pictures of he and I together at games, and pictures from campus.

A few weekends before I graduated Dad went to the campus to take pictures of some of the important buildings on campus (My dorm buildings, apartments, education building, etc.) He was so worried he would run into me on campus. The funny thing is I made a surprise trip home that weekend to see my parents so my mom had to make up an excuse about why Dad was not home for many hours!

gave me the quilt my sil made for my other brother. My brother also included a note that said something about they both agreed it should be mine. I was very close to my brother who died of cancer. When I opened the box, there were just no words.
