Tampa area for after Christmas

We are taking a first winter vacation after Christmas. I have seeing the manatees on my to do list. Any reasonably priced things to do for family including one 8 year old?

We're renting a house near Clearwater (I think). And will do some easy food prep but will go out for some meals. Places to eat?

We did a really nice boat ride in Tarpon Springs. Nice little town and good Greek food.

If you want an old time Florida attraction Weeki Wachee may be interesting.

Busch gardens is fairly close to Tampa. Iíll bet an eight year old would love that. The mote aquarium is in Sarasota too along with beautiful botanical gardens. The area is St. Armands circle. Right near downtown Sarasota.

It's not cheap, but if you want to splurge then go to Busch Gardens. Definitely a great time for everyone!

That's all I remember from that area, so I'm no help with reasonably priced things.

I enjoyed a day in Ybor City on a trip several years ago. Iíd go again.

Take a stroll on Bayshore Blvd. and enjoy the bay and the neighborhoods.

We visited the Dali museum. My DH is not an art lover but we both totally enjoyed it. It is in St Petersburg. Loved Taron Springs!

I live in that area. The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a great place to visit. It is the home of Winter. Some of our favorite restaurants are Frenchys, Crabby Bills, PJs Oyster Bar, and Johnnyís Italian Restaurant.

I would definitely do the Pirate Cruise right out of Clearwater. I took my kids when they were young and it was fun for everyone.

There was also a huge blow up water slide on the beach as long as the winds are not strong. My kids liked that too.

We live about 2 1/2 hours away and when we have been there we have enjoyed Lowry Park Zoo as well as Busch Gardens.

Just a warning to make sure you bring jackets. You never know in north and central FL from one day to the next if its going to be warm, cool or downright cold in January.
