Alexa/Echo controlling a light

I am looking for a device that DS can set and work as an alarm clock and will also turn on a light. And by light, I mean something that will shine in his face and wake him up...it is the worse part of my day. There is so much out there, wondering what you recommend. He already has an Alexa dot. Is there something I can buy to link with that?

Any ideas?

How about a smart plug? If you order through Alexa today it’s $4.99. You could plug a lamp into it and then set a routine. Adding that you can link Alexa to also do an action (play music, make sounds, say something etc).

I bought a smart plug made by TanTan on Amazon. I use Alexa to turn my Christmas tree lights on and off.

I also have Hue bulbs installed in a few lamps. I set a routine on Alexa for my lights to turn on/off.

My adult son helped me set the routines.

My husband can sleep through every alarm on the planet. And I cannot. It has driven me bonkers for nearly 25 years, this BEEP BEEP BEEP from his side of the bed that he cannot hear. I got him an alarm clock last year that slowly lights up. It has been a miracle. LINK

I just bought the smart lightbulbs from Costco. They link to Alexa and you can change the brightness and color of the light. I have a hard time getting my boys up, but now I can just tell Alexa to turn on the lights in their rooms.

I have every lamp in our house plugged into a smart plug. I have them set on a schedule. One comes on in the den when my alarm goes off every morning. It goes off about 10 minutes after I leave.

We also have a smart bulb in the light outside our back door. It is set to come on right before dh leaves every morning, and it goes off right after I leave.

I have a couple of different brands. Just make sure they say “works with Alexa” and “no hub required”.
