1. Have you ever worked in a store on Black Friday? What was it like?

Yes. My take away from that experience is that people are stupid. People get way too angry over stores selling out of something that was priced ridiculously low and we only hadn’t only had 20 sent from corporate.

2. Do you have a holiday party at work? Is it more formal or casual?

Yes. We do a secret Santa and go for lunch at a local casino. Very easy, fun, and yummy.

3. Do you bake cookies for the holiday season?

Sometimes. The truth is I don’t need an excuse to make cookies.

4. Do you own a lot of holiday sweaters?

Not a single one.

5. Do you host anyone for a meal/visit at your house for the holidays?

We host the present unwrapping on Christmas Eve morning and my aunt hosts dinner that night.

1. I worked at a large department store but it was long before Black Friday had been thought into a mass marketing manipulation.
2. We had an after work appetizer/sweets type party with a simple gift exchange. Most everyone attended.
3. Use to cook a variety of cookies and attended a yearly cookie exchange.

4. Have one now. When people started calling them ugly it took the fun out of wearing them.
5. Changes from year to year.

1. Have you ever worked in a store on Black Friday? What was it like?
I have never worked a retail job ever.

2. Do you have a holiday party at work? Is it more formal or casual?
Not working right now. Past schools have done different things - usually a dinner out or casual house party

3. Do you bake cookies for the holiday season?.
Yes - shortbread, gingerbread, ginger crinkles

4. Do you own a lot of holiday sweaters?
I have a few holiday shirts but none are actually sweaters

5. Do you host anyone for a meal/visit at your house for the holidays?
Our new tradition is that we host dinner on Christmas Eve so I think we'll be doing that again, with our parents and my brother if he comes. I am technically hosting all week as my in laws will be staying with us.

1. Have you ever worked in a store on Black Friday? What was it like? When I first got married, I managed a candy store in a mall where we made decorative custom filled candy and nut tins. . This was actually before they called it Black Friday, but it was the start of the Christmas shopping season. It was crazy! There was not even a moment to breathe. We used to have customers lined up in every available spot. It was that way from the day after Thanksgiving until the day before Christmas.
2. Do you have a holiday party at work? Is it more formal or casual? We always have a holiday party. It's changed a lot over the years. One grade level is always in charge of the party. We used to do a big sleigh ride around the plaza in Kansas City and then dinner at a nice restaurant. This year, it's pot luck in a local bar. I'm not the least bit interested in going to that.
3. Do you bake cookies for the holiday season? My granddaughters love to bake cookies, so we always do that, bake brownies, and make candies and gingerbread houses.
4. Do you own a lot of holiday sweaters? No, I don't. I did, back before they just were worn to ugly sweater parties. Now I feel out of place wearing them
5. Do you host anyone for a meal/visit at your house for the holidays? We had all three of our kids, significant others, and grandchildren for Thanksgiving. I've always hosted Christmas dinner as well, but this year, DS1 is closing on his first house on his birthday (Dec 12), and he is having Christmas dinner at his house. I'm excited to see his new house, and he and his girlfriend have invited me to come early and help cook. I'm very happy to have the pressure off me to clean house before, cook, and clean up afterward.

1. Have you ever worked in a store on Black Friday? What was it like?
Yes, I worked in an off sale wine/liquor store. It was a lot of fun. Everyone was happy, happy, happy!
2. Do you have a holiday party at work? Is it more formal or casual?
Yes, we have a holiday party. It is not formal but is held at a local restaurant event center. We dress like we would for school, not jeans.
3. Do you bake cookies for the holiday season?
I used to make many different cookies and treats for the holidays when my kids were younger. I gifted cookies and treats to my siblings because many of my recipes came from our grandmother. She knew how to bake for Christmas! We are all older now and don't eat as many so I have cut it down to 3 to 4 items.
4. Do you own a lot of holiday sweaters?
No, I do not own any holiday sweaters.
5. Do you host anyone for a meal/visit at your house for the holidays?
Just my kids.

1. Have you ever worked in a store on Black Friday? What was it like?
I've never had a retail job. I'm not that social.

2. Do you have a holiday party at work? Is it more formal or casual?
We sometimes have a holiday meal at a local restaurant, but sometimes we jut have it at work in our old Home Ec room. It is always casual.

3. Do you bake cookies for the holiday season?
I do sometimes.

4. Do you own a lot of holiday sweaters?
I don't own any at all. I do own two Peanuts Christmas t-shirts.

5. Do you host anyone for a meal/visit at your house for the holidays?
Nope. I don't like people that much. I cook the holiday meal, but we take it to my Mom's. She hosts me, DH, her SO, my DSS, and his SO. She has a huge dining room with a table for 6, room to set up a buffet table, and room for a card table if we need more seating. She also has a big living room that can seat a bunch of people.

1. No, thank goodness!
2. Retired. Plenty of parties between now and Christmas. Too many. I like staying home more!
3. Yes, Santa cookies for my grands and peanut butter blossoms for my brother in law. I make a big spread and have a party for kids and grands the week before. SO much fun! I do a slide show with playlist with photos from the past year. Highlight! The kids love to see themselves...
4. Nope. None.
5. Just the above party. I go to my sisters house for brunch on Christmas Day. She lives in my neighborhood. Occasionally will go with one of our kids. Always dd house on Christmas Eve.

1. Have you ever worked in a store on Black Friday? What was it like?
It was a fine jewelry store, and most customers were pretty low key. I was in college, though, and wasn't there for Black Friday or Christmas Eve shoppers. I know THOSE days had to be CRAZY!

2. Do you have a holiday party at work? Is it more formal or casual?
We do a happy hour at a nearby upscale bowling alley . I don't go bc the only coworkers who go are the hardcore young partiers. I'm past the age of "How drunk am I?" followed by endless giggles.

3. Do you bake cookies for the holiday season?
Yep. Mom's cookies along with homemade pierogi (not baking but it's not Christmas without them).

4. Do you own a lot of holiday sweaters?
I don't own any. I do have a couple snowman scarves. And many different kinds of antlers.

5. Do you host anyone for a meal/visit at your house for the holidays?
We have an annual party a couple weeks before. For Christmas it's usually just DH and me.

1. I worked retail through HS and college. It was way back before Black Friday, but we were always thronged the day after Christmas, December 26.

2. Happily retired.

3. White chocolate Christmas crinkles.

4. No holiday sweaters for me—ever. However, I did just order this shirt and it might be a little too statement for me. We’ll see.

5. Yes, I’m doing a charcuterie/cheese board lunch for Christmas. Soooo excited about it.

1. Have you ever worked in a store on Black Friday? What was it like? Nope! I tend to avoid stores on Black Friday, too, or at least wait until late afterernoon/evening if I have to get something.
2. Do you have a holiday party at work? Is it more formal or casual? We have one. It's casual.
3. Do you bake cookies for the holiday season? Yes, but not until we get closer to Christmas!
4. Do you own a lot of holiday sweaters? I don't own any of the ugly sweaters, but I do own some holiday sweaters. More just sweaters though, not necessarily a holiday theme.
5. Do you host anyone for a meal/visit at your house for the holidays? I live on my own in an apartment and don't.

1) In college, I was a character at the shopping mall. Sometimes I was Chris Mouse and sometimes I was Chris Moose. There were four of us: two characters and two guides. Sweltering. smelly, and hard to see in those costumes. But, it really put me in the Christmas spirit AND I got paid $18.50 an hour AND I got free hugs.

2) Yes...just a casual get together at a local restaurant.

3) My husband is the Baker. He makes cream cheese cookies filled with apricot and raspberry jam.

4) I do not own any holiday sweaters nor do I own any sweaters.

5) Our apartment is a tiny wreck...so, no company.
