I can't believe the library I just moved into (K-2) does not have a copy of "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn. I would have thought that was a staple. There are also no "David" books and several other great series I have noticed missing. I know money is tight, but books have been ordered every year and these have never been included.

and just fallen apart. The Media Specialist might not have kept up with current literature, or they have been taken and had to be removed from the collection.

I have been teaching in a middle school for several years...so maybe that's why I have never heard of The Kissing Hand. I'm in an elementary library now but I haven't seen it. I'll have to check out of curiosity.

It is about a raccoon, Chester, going to school, but does not want to leave his mommy. Great story. Another book in the set is "A Pocket Full of Kisses" is about Chester getting a baby brother. "A Kiss Goodbye" they have to move to a new house. There is also "Chester Raccoon and the Big Bad Bully" introduces a bully into the school and "Chester Raccoon and the Acorn Full of Memories" covers the death of a friend. All of the books are by Audrey Penn. There is another "A Bedtime Kiss for Chester Raccoon" is a board book about being scared of the shadows in your bedroom.
All great books, I hope this helps.
