Clip to ScrapBook #1

I went to pick up my class from PE and one of the girls in the 3rd grade class told me the Lady PE coach said ď is that old lady sub your subĒ
The student said to me youíre not old
I donít look my age and donít act it even though Iím on the older senior spectrum just turned 70.
After school I went to Dollar General to get an adult beverage along with other things. Even if youíre 100 you have to show an ID if you purchase an adult beverage. I showed my id and the young man said 1948 you donít look your age
The coach is no spring chicken and has a prune face that could kill a moose.
The student pointed her out to me and she walked by and I smiled at her and she gave me a snarky look

Reminds me of the primary school (K, 1, and 2) that I seldom go to. Once a teacher ask me if I was "someone's grandpa" when I was there to substitute.

On some occasions, I start out by introducing myself as "old".

Good morning, my name is xxx. Let me start by saying "I'm old". It allows me to scan the room and quickly observe who is focused. I'm a very young 61, very active and athletic. Age is a state of mind. But...if I mispronounce their name, I apologize and use the excuse that I'm old.

I think the baby boomer generation is redefining what it means to be "old." I'm 66 and can honestly say I don't feel any older than when I was 40 and giving birth to my one and only child. Heck, I'm seeing Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones in concert next year and they're ten years older than me.

No one at any school where I sub has any idea how old I am, and if anyone ever referred to me as an "old lady," I'd have a private word with them to set them straight.
