One of my students bought me a hot chocolate bomb from a local chocolate shop! I’ve never heard of them! I was told by another teacher that it needed to be refrigerated. I have it refrigerated. I plan to use it this weekend, or early next week. I was thinking Sunday. Will it still be good then? Do I leave it in the refrigerator? How long can it stay in the fridge? Like I said I never heard of this, but I’m super excited to try it!
Also, I’m told that to use it, you put it in a mug with warm milk. I take it I heat up the milk in the microwave or on the stove? Then do I put the milk in the mug and then put in the chocolate bomb? Or do I put the chocolate bomb in the mug and then pour the milk in the mug? Or doesn’t it matter? Sorry if these are stupid questions! I’ve never heard of these and they sound so good I don’t want to mess it up!
Hot chocolate bombs are a yummy trend. I've had two so far. I recommend not keeping them in the refrigerator because chocolate in general shouldn't be in the fridge. Just keep it somewhere that it won't melt. I warmed my milk in the microwave, in the biggest mug I could find, then dropped the bomb in. I found that I needed to warm up and add a bit more milk - the bombs I had were big and very sweet. Be sure to stir it, too, so that the chocolate doesn't stick to the bottom or sides of your mug.
Enjoy your treat!
They are all the rage here right now!
They look really good...
Every video I have seen shows the chocolate bomb put in the bottom of the. If and you pour the hot milk over the bomb. It’s probably more for how it looks when you do it that way but I’m sure it’ll work either way!
I never heard of these and had to look it up. I was looking for one more gift for my dd and this will do the trick. Even found a small business locally that makes them. Thatns!
The kids and I made some for fun yesterday- they were fun and easy to make and use and delicious too! We’re going to try some of the fancier embellishments next.
I wouldn’t have thought to put it in the fridge, since it looks like a big chocolate and I don’t put those in the fridge.
You put it in your cup and pour the milk over it, while recording it with your phone so you can show everyone what a hot chocolate bomb looks like when it explodes.
Thanks! Do you think it will be okay in the fridge? I was a little surprised when they said it needed to be refrigerated. I don't want to ruin it, but I'm not at home right now to take it out.
I had one this week - I bought one to try. The bakery selling them did not have them refrigerated. I had it for about 3- 4 days before I tried it. I made it with boiling water - mine said either milk or water. It goes in the mug first then pour the hot liquid over it. Mine had mini marshmallows inside. It was good. I am guessing the difference would be in the type of chocolate that is used for the outer shell and what you put inside. The better grade of chocolate - the better the bomb!!
How much are they going for in your area? Here they are $5 or $6 a piece.
