And then that person puts onto this cold biscuit what has to easily be a half stick's worth of butter and then put nearly as much jam on top of it. What is your reaction?

NO, don't attempt the high road. You know you're making a mental note of it...or maybe it's you with the biscuit.

I saw this on the show I'm watching and I can't get it out of my mind. Then that took me back to an old boss of mine who had lunch with someone else in the company who was over my department. Her only comment about the woman was that she put a cup of blue cheese dressing on her salad. She said it in such a way that made it obvious it was an excessive amount. My only thought was why so little...and was it really chunky? That's the best kind.

But I digress. It was a cold biscuit. The butter sat on top like icing.

It's a biscuit and (hopefully real) butter. Can you really go wrong?!

Yes, it's much better hot, but I wouldn't turn it away cold as long as there's butter with it. Maybe it's just the butter I'm drooling over. Jam is just an added bonus.

Just the thought of biting into a crumbly cold biscuit topped with gobs of hard butter makes my mouth feel like itís full of cotton as I cringe and squirm.

I think Iíll just go bake some flaky hot biscuits that Iíll top with creamy butter and honey! Mmm...

I adore butter. I like it any which way I can get it. Sadly, it now languishes in the refrigerator, banished by health nuts.

I am considering switching brands though. When my kids were little and we counted every nickel, we bought Safeway’s brand butter. Now I buy Challenge. DD says Kerrygold is even better. True?

I love hot biscuits with butter and strawberry jam.
Really good biscuits and gravy are never turned down either. The breakfast place near me makes a mushroom gravy for their amazing biscuits that I love!

(I say butter but I only have sticks of butter for when I occasionally bake. I use I Canít Believe itís Not Butter spray and in the tub for everything else.)

It is my firm conviction that all food exists to put butter on. And I read a study one time that said real butter was better than margarine, especially for women. I accept all studies that confirm what I already believe to be true!

I buy Costco butter and always have a couple of 4 packs in the freezer (I've considered the KerryGold but it's so much more expensive that I'm afraid I'll really like it and then I'll be forced to buy it )

So yeah, it could have been me with the cold biscuit except for one thing. I don't like jam.

I really hesitate to once again name the show I'm hooked on, but it was an episode of The Crown. Queen Elizabeth grabs what looks like a biscuit and then puts a huge amount of what I assume is butter and then a big glob of jam or jelly (don't know the difference) on the plate.

Donít knock it till youíve tried it. Heaven on earth.

One of my most cherished memories of my visit to York was having Afternoon Tea in a tea house on The Shambles. I was introduced to this that day and I was hooked.

Clotted cream is more whipped cream than butter. And yes, delicious on a scone. Apparently you have never been to high tea!

when my sister and I were in London.

Clotted cream seemed to me to be more like whipped cream than butter. It is delicious even though that label "clotted" just seems off putting.

Clotted cream is a thick cream made by indirectly heating full-cream cow's milk using steam or a water bath and then leaving it in shallow pans to cool slowly.

It can be sweet, but like whipped cream, itís only as sweet as the amount of sugar that is added. I like it best without. With the jam, itís a sweet treat.

We have a local restaurant that was offering take out afternoon tea with little sandwiches, sweets, and scones. My girlfriend and I each bought one before Christmas and and celebrated her birthday over Zoom having afternoon tea. It was lovely.

Kerrygold butter is so much better than regular butter. Once you try it you will never be happy with any other butter. I'm also a fan of the Kerrygold cheese.

I have finished choking. The biscuit needs to be warm, the butter needs to be soft (and not the whole cube) and the jam needs to be preserves or marmalade. Then it would be edible.

Breakstone whipped sweet butter on a biscuit is so good. I don't care if its cold although warm is preferred. I'm going to have to try KerryGold.

went from MA. to college in Savannah I learned the only proper way to make biscuits is with White Lily Flour! Who knew?

I have also learned that biscuits or as they are called buttermilk biscones are the best at Back In the Day Bakery in Savannah.

I'm with you on the cold butter and cold biscuit and especially if you add cold jam to cold butter. No no no. Clotted cream and cold jam on a scone. Yes yes yes.

Me too! It's more than twice as expensive at Costco, and real butter is already a luxury spend for me. I firmly believe real butter is better for you than margarine, but I like real butter so much more than I like margarine (I can't really even stand it anymore after so many years of real butter) that I eat twice as much. So I think it all evens out.

I knew that, and I even got to share that knowledge with some college students in a grocery store once. I was going down the aisle with my cart, and a couple of college age boys were holding some jars and conversing. I heard one of them say to the other, "She looks like a mom. I bet she knows."

Then they asked me what the difference between jam and jelly was. I told them I was not a mom, but I did know the difference.
