Bridgerton books

I'm enjoying Bridgerton more than I thought I would. I assumed it would be less authentic and more like the Versaille series. Now I'm curious about the books.
Can anyone recommend the book series?
TIA

I have read one of them. A former co-worker loved them.

I enjoyed them overall. Intriguing romantic story lines. Interesting characters. Slightly silly & inauthentic for the historical period, but it's fiction so anything goes. I prefer fiction to be entertaining in whatever way, but I have a harder time on elves, fairies, sorcerers, witches, etc. That's just not my cup of tea. Fortunately, this series doesn't have those.
Mary Balogh is a favorite author for this period style romantic fiction. Madeline Hunter is another.

I read them a long time ago and enjoyed them. I tried rereading one after watching the series, though, and it fell kind of flat. I think my reading tastes have changed, though.

Anyone remember a different Madeline Hunter?

I do but not fondly.

I will check out the fiction writer, Madeline Hunter though!

I'm not a romance reader, but the whole navigating the social rules of the ton thing is interesting.

I had never heard of them before the show. I am on book two now. I haven't read romance novels in years, but now I want to know what happens!

I think they are my favorite romantic historical fiction series and Julia Quinn is my favorite author along with Mary Balogh.

I have a feeling the producers of the show are going to make the second son, Benedict, gay. He isn't in the book series.

I really enjoyed the series. I have not watched the show yet. Historical romance is my go to genre. I want to go visit castles, old London homes and many other sites from all my years of reading.
