but not that guilty. I found out today that I will be adding another tested subject to my teaching. My district does not provide any curriculum for any subject at our building. No text books, etc. I have a $300 TPT order ready to go. My time is worth that much. I just can't imagine creating another curriculum. It also has online components if we end up going that route. I may also need foot surgery and will either need to plan for a sub or teach with a scooter (or both). This set looks promising.
300 is a lot for a TPT product, but I say go for it! I'm the same way. TPT has saved my life in so many ways. It has helped me cut back on work so much and given me more of a life!
The set is 200. I’ve added other stuff like I can statements etc. I just don’t have the capacity to create right now. I am taking 2 graduate courses, 3 online seminars and stressing over everything. This is going to be my self care.
I have really cut back on my classroom spending in general, but there are times when the money is absolutely worth it. You have a lot on your plate right now and it sounds like the spending the money is definitely worth it!
Your time and your mental health is worth so much more than that, so don't feel guilty! I am glad you found something that will work for you without causing you to stress over the new class. I am definitely a work smarter not harder kind of gal!
I would hold on until there was a sale, too. I don't typically spend money out of pocket on school stuff, but if it was something that would save me money, time, and energy I would. Although I would also be asking anyone who was anyone to help me out- PTA, principal, parents... Is it possible to do a donor's choose for your items?
I was just going to say hold off until the sale in August. And think of the credits you'll get for that purchase. You can do some serious damage with all those credits.
You know who should feel guilty? The school district - for not providing any sort of curriculum.
This! How in the world are you supposed to teach when you aren't provided with anything? As teachers we do create magic in our classrooms, but we aren't actually magicians...
I definitely agree with purchasing curriculum if it simplifies your life! You have to take care of yourself, and it sounds like your plate is already very full. TPT will have a back-to-school sale mid to end of summer, so I would put that curriculum on your wish list and wait to buy it.
I'm happy you found something that will work, but I'm not happy that districts expect us to find or create our own curriculum. What the heck do a curriculum director and department do?
