I emailed some schools and got a couple responses back. The schools are doing a A/B schedule. I was emailed back, that subs would teach in person and the other students at home (for that day) they would do a zoom check in (in the morning) with the teacher (sub).

Can you explain what they mean by this? What exactly would a sub do during a zoom check in, in the morning? How long would this last?

That is how we do attendance.
It might also be a debrief - I.e. here is what you need to get done today.
I assume this would be laid out in a teacher’s plans. How long probably varies by teacher, too.

In our district it consists of attendance, a quick check in, morning messages, what needs to be done for the day.

I've subbed in middle school for 2 months in hybrid and not ONCE do they make the subs do ANY of the zooms. If there's a sub, the home kids do independent work without any zoom check in.

Most of my jobs have been either supervising in person students while the quarantined teacher teaches from home or supervising students at school while they do work that the teacher has assigned on Classroom. But, I have done Zoom with p.e. students who are both in person and remote. The other p.e. teacher teaches while I manage the remote learners. I’m good at signing in, taking attendance, and supervising. Next week my last sub job until January is high school English with seniors, in a hybrid setting. She showed me everything and is spelling it out in the plans. And the students in person will help me. Luckily, I’ve known them since 6th grade. Hopefully they will take pity on me.
