According to my governor in NC we are behind every other state.
My county is on the second group...75 & older. One county to the east if me still hasn't vaccinated all healthcare workers and one county to the left was finishing up healthcare workers this week.
I just signed up for the vaccination! I am in group 1B, which was supposedly starting on Jan. 7th. I'm in the 2nd group of 1B. Dh, being a police officer, is ahead of me for the vaccination.
AZ is starting the second group 1B on this coming Monday. This includes 75 and older, teachers/day care workers and law enforcement personnel. I will be in group 1C and hoping to have my first vac by mid Feb but I am guessing at that.
My state skipped right over healthcare workers and residents in long term care facilities. Anybody 65+ can sign up for a slot in my county to get the vaccine (multiple people have said how well run it is). It’s very difficult to get a slot though.
Healthcare workers can get it right now but they didn’t get priority.
I read this morning that FL had used 30% of the vaccines they were sent.
It's a hot mess here. The governor throws out in press conferences who he wants to get it, without actually organizing with agencies.
1A was supposed to be frontline healthcare workers, and then there are two groups that are 1b, which is silly really- political theater to pretend that some groups (including teachers) were "moved up" without actually doing so. Instead of a 1b and 1c, now there is an "first 1b" and "second 1b" group .
Many areas had already moved on to 1b, but there are reports that many in 1a were missed. Because it was poorly organized, there were situations where hospitals had vaccines but not enough 1a people scheduled to give them to, so they gave them to other workers to avoid wasting them.
My district along with others in the county partnered with a hospital network and we were originally told we would begin receiving invitations to schedule this week, as we're "1b." Then the health department shut that down, and says we can't have them because we're the "second" 1b group. All first responders, all healthcare workers, and everyone 70+ must get vaccinated before teachers can start. They're now saying we may get to schedule in early March, which seems very unlikely given the pace they're going at. And yeah, we're all returning to in person learning.
I signed up through the NJ state website for group 1b. My district announced they will be giving the vaccine to all school staff when it’s available. They are working with the city and state to do this. I don’t know when, but they project by the end of the month. My state is still in the 1a group.
I am in group 1c. Today, policemen and firemen in group 1b were able to start being vaccinated. I don't think all the 1a folks are done yet, either. There has been a lot of criticism of what my governor seems to feel is a slow roll out.
I think we're still on health care workers, but I'm not sure? All I know is that I'm not in any of the identified first 5 groups. Dh thinks he is. I am sure I'm far down the list.
Crazy how the vaccine rollout differs state to state. Washington state is still vaccinating group 1. I am distressed to see that at age 65 I am being lumped in with 16-69 age group and my earliest date will be March. I’m going to see if I can be included in the over 50 teacher group because I would like to sub as soon as kids are back in school.
I figure Man and I are so far down the list that there's no point in paying attention right now. I just looked at the roll out for my province (BC) and it looks like the general population won't be started on vaccinations until at least March. I don't reckon we'll be vaccinated before September.
We just started 75+ this week. That's phase 1B for us. (That will include me as a teacher, but not for another month or so.) My 85-year-old stepfather goes to get his vaccine next week, but they are making my 74-year-old mom wait. I know she's not 75 yet, but it kind of sucks that she can't get it when he does!
I'm in WV and I think my state has actually done a good job with it. WV has vaccinated health care workers and nursing home residents. I have signed up for a vaccine with my district. Today, teachers in my district who are 50 or older were given the first dose. It is supposed to come in the next two or three weeks for teachers who are under 50.
I can only echo what MathWA wrote about AZ. We've only administered just under 120.000 vaccines. One more sight has been added, our NFL Cardinal tram staduim.
The odd thing is I have gone through the county website and can find no mention of where the vaccine sights are. I guess we'll just wait for the magic decoder ring and hope for the best.
We just got my husband scheduled for next week. He’s a pharmacist. He’ll have to drive 100 miles to get it bc that was the closest we could find. He’s now trying to get me an appointment then too.
ETA: I am not eligible yet. Hopefully I’ll be able to find a vaccine closer to home when it’s time.
Our state, as far as I can tell, is on 1a. Both my husband and I qualify for 1c. I signed up to get notified when we qualify to register to get the vaccine. From what I can tell if everything goes as scheduled we should be able to get the vaccine late March- early April.
I know first responders in our state are getting them.
I just got an email from our superintendent today saying that the state is beginning to plan for educators to get vaccinated, but with 44,000 employees working in school settings, it will be a difficult process. In other words, they are going to be planning this rollout until it is available to the general public and all teachers just get vaccinated on our own.
WalkDon'tRun, thanks for posting that. Dh and I disagree on what 50+living in multigenerational households means. What do you all think that means? (Specific example would be great )
My dh just got his as a home health worker, and that's in the second group of phase 1 out of three groups. I'm in the first group of phase two and am being told early Feb to mid March, but we will see!
I'm surprised that incarcerated individuals and homeless are placed above people 16-65 with underlying conditions that put them at high risk.
I'm in eastern NC. My county started 75 and over today, but the small counties around us are still vaccinating health care workers. Our county is using the hospital and 2 local medical groups to call patients who are 75 and up AND have underlying conditions to schedule them, instead of the patients calling in. Since today is the first day, I don't know how well that works as opposed to the long lines. The thinking is that they can have the vaccines ready and not let any go to waste.

Thanks for your thoughts! I thought the first thing, but dh thinks the second. He's over 50 and I'm a year short of that age and we have teen/adult kids at home so he feels he falls under the category (and I miss it by most of a year). Hmm.
i don't know how i would know where we are...but teachers (me) and grocery workers (DH) are supposed to be in the 2nd phase (approximately--fingers crossed--February), and we haven't heard anything yet, so....
a decision was just made yesterday to change "75 and older" to "65 and older"--yea! (that's not me, but good for others)
just read an article that says we have no timeframe for when we move to phase 2.
We're group 1b and predicted for early Feb.Each county must announce their plans for vaccination this week. I'm anxious to know where and when we can! I am starting to feel rather hopeful!
We're nowhere near finished with Phase 1A, healthcare workers and residents and staff in long-term care facilities. Nor do we know for sure who will be included in Phase 1B.
They just started giving medical personnel and long term care facility residents their second dose this week so we are behind.
My BIL who is a paramedic and works with COVID positive patients daily was only given his first dose on December 30th.
They are not quite sure who will be next.
Grocery store workers, teachers, and those 75+ should be in the next phase which will start in mid February.
I am not trying to start a political argument, but I feel there should be some consistency from state to state in who is getting it. The way we are going there are going to be 20 YO office workers who are getting the vaccination in some states before front line workers do in others.
I am not trying to say one deserves it more than the other - just thinking about which vaccinations will slow it down the most.
