I love, love, love shopping at Publix. I only get to do it on vacation. Today they are breaking ground on the first one in my state! I am already preparing myself for disappointment. Somehow I think having one at home is not going to be as magical.
What is something that used to be special to you in some way that has lost its magic?

I still love the beach/ocean but now that I live only a 30 minute drive away I don't get that special "on vacation" excited feeling I used to get when I traveled a few hours on a plane for a once in awhile getaway. Still worth it, though.

Dairy Queen. As silly as it sounds.

It was a special treat for us growing up. My dad would always take us AFTER we helped mow the lawn and do yard work. I loved DQ...it was a very special treat.

Also, Worlds of Fun. (Kansas City). We used to go there as children, as we lived in KS and with 8 children, going to Disney was out of the question. It seemed so magical. When our kids were little, we took them there and I experienced it through adult eyes. Not so magical, anymore. But for my kids it probably was.

The mountains.
I first saw mountains when I was 17, and was so excited. Now I live in the mountains. While I really enjoy the majestic beauty, I miss all the lakes/beaches/swimming where I grew up. Forest fires are no fun.

I'd be tempted to move back, but the majority of my adult kids live here.

The last few times we went to Hawaii we did not even get in the water.

I looked at the location, and it’s on the opposite side of town where I’m usually shopping. It would have to be spectacular for me to make the trip across town.
