posting on the wrong board. . .

I'm just curious, but why does it bother people if someone posts something on the "wrong board"? I find it rude that people are so often told that they should have posted on a different board. Are there descriptions of the boards or rules for posting that I haven't seen? Maybe it's none of my business, but it just sort of annoys me (and I've never been told this, by the way). Any insight / support for either side is welcomed.

I don't think anyone is being rude. They are just letting people know. There are descriptions at the top of each board. For example, this is the description for the BusyBoard:

I think most teachers like the organization.

But I peruse specific boards with a purpose, mainly because that's what PT says at the top of the page. For instance, at the top of this board it says:

So, is this post about sharing teaching ideas? No, but it will get more traffic than the vent board, I suppose.

I can only remember doing this twice- Once I saw someone post a question about Kindergarten on the advertisement board. The other time, I suggested that a volatile (and political) post should be on the political board. That post got ugly quick, as many political posts do. I thought it was a shame that a PT'er got flamed over it.

There are brief descriptions of each board at the top of the boards. I don't correct people but it sometime bothers me, I will admit. Esp. the Teachers' Lounge. A lot of times people go there wanting to get away from school-related things, and it's frustrating to have to read through a ton of school stuff there. Most days it doesn't bother me, but some days when I'm thin skinned it gets on my nerves.
