If you display the test on the promethean or smart board, the kids could use activotes to put their answer in. The kids love it and so do the teachers.

Google Docs

Dear Froggylove,
I use Google Docs to design tests for my kids. Google Docs provides opportunities for open ended questions, Yes/No, essay, multiple choice, etc. I email each student the address and we go to the lab and they log on to take the test. Their answers are sent to you for review and grading.
Goodluck,

P.S.--You are able to select various backgrounds, too. Also, they have to answer all the questions before they may submit the test which I like the best.

diagrams that they need to label or explain? You could have them on the computer. Leave them up for a period of time for them to look at and answer the questions. If you are wanting them to label it, you can put together a screen and they can drag the answers over to put them in place to label.
If you are talking younger students you can use pictures to start discussion, or take a virtual field trip.

Good luck.

I discovered it two years ago when I was given a 2/3 combo class 10 days before school started. i usually post practice tests on my blog for children to practice them at home. I will be adding more this year on my blog.
Peace,

Using clickers or http://www.surveymonkey.com.

Depending on grade level, you could also do a texting poll.
