Not t shirts suggestions
Old 08-06-2020, 05:09 AM

My principal is "allowing" us to wear the cute grade level team t-shirts that are trending now. One of my team does not like to wear t-shirts. No judging on my part. We're 23 years teaching together and we have each other's back all the way.

So, any suggestions as to what the three of us can wear for grade level team pride? I'm thinking tiaras? Maybe a mask...

All the same color, but different styles. Maroon Monday, Teal Tuesday etc.

Instead of tees, long tunics, flower in your hair?

I like the mask idea. I may be suggesting an old school idea...an apron. I taught kindergarten and the apron really came in handy.

Could you get grade level masks made? What about long sleeved shirts, polos, or sweatshirts?

Matching lanyards with your grade level printed on it or something specific to what you study in that grade?

I am not sure of your budget but Lands End Business has many options that can be personalized. You could all get cardigan sweaters, button up cotton blouses, or even jackets with a logo you create embroidered on them. I have not looked in a while but I know they had a larger selection of clothing that could be personalized. I have heard teachers are getting lab coats to wear this year. That would be a cute option that can be worn everyday.

Vistaprint does a lot of customized clothing. They have dress shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, jackets, polos (and tshirts).

Are you all female and have pierced ears? This wouldn't be an all the time thing, but seasonal earrings are cute. I have a ton of Halloween and Xmas/Winter earrings that I would wear all Oct and then all Dec and it was fun.

One thing I did when I taught 4th was every Monday, I dressed up somehow in a costume or funny hat or something silly while I greeted the kids at my door as they arrived. For example, one day I wore black clothes and then used a pipecleaner to make an ear piece. I wore sunglasses and was very serious greeting them like I was secret service. Or I might wear a crazy hat. Or have fairy wings and a wand. The kids loved seeing what I wore (even kids from other grades). It might be a lot of work to coordinate with all 3 of you the same theme, but you could just make it that every Monday you do something silly for greeting. I did it on Mondays because Mondays are a let down for everyone! And if we were off on Monday, I got to skip a week.

Retro style bowling shirts in school colors. 50s style high school sweater with your grade level instead of graduation year.
