I am doing laundry and thinking to myself how relaxing it is. It's my favorite chore. In contrast, I HATE to dust. What's your favorite household chore? Least favorite?
the sign that says something like "You come from dust and you will return to dust. That's why I don't dust. It could be someone I know." That's probably why you don't like to dust.
Does cooking count as a chore? I love cooking (most days)! My least favorite chore is probably cleaning the shower/bathtub—it takes so much time and I always feel grimy and wet afterwards.
Does washing dishes with a dishwasher count? I didn't grow up with a dishwasher, and we didn't have one in our college apartment either. When I graduated and got my first apartment that had one, it was such a novelty to be able to press a button and have the dishes washed! After years of doing them by hand, I still appreciate it!
I hate vacuuming the most. I think it's just dragging it out and then dragging the vacuum cleaner around that annoys me, especially now that I'm in a house with stairs/multiple floors. So much so that I actually bought a broom so that I could do a quick sweep sometimes and go longer between vacuuming.
Ew, chores. Like MACMama, I like the laundry. It is probably my favorite. I'm doing it now. I also hate to dust, and thought that would be my answer, but then giver mentioned cleaning the shower/tub. Oh, yeah, I hate that too.
Cooking is ok, but I get irritated about having to do it and clean up. But I also don't like the way others do kitchen cleaning, so this is my fault.
I don't mind taking out the trash. Yard work is ok.
I don't mind cleaning bathrooms or doing yard work/gardening, though I do complain A LOT when it's super hot and muggy out. In the non-COVID world, I actually enjoy grocery shopping.
I detest putting away laundry and emptying the dishwasher. In both cases it's the realization that I'll be doing it all over again VERY soon.
Laundry is the most often done, and I suppose if I had a "favorite" chore that would be it. Dusting and vacuuming fall in the middle. I don't like cleaning bathrooms or kitchens.
I’m not fond of cleaning mirrors or windows. I did text my neighbor the other day and asked him to recycle some of his newspapers my way. It makes the awful job at least rewarding when the mirrors and windows look perfect.
I don’t mind doing laundry. I enjoy hanging sheets and towels outside when the weather cooperates. I did get a drying rack to hang heavier things on inside overnight.
My favorite is mowing, but DH reminded me that mowing is an outdoor chore. You probably want indoor. I like vacuuming because I have a roomba and all I have to do is push the button and cleaning out the dust thing. I used to love cleaning, but as I've gotten older, I really don't like to clean anything.
I hate, hate, hate cleaning the shower. I'm fine with cleaning the rest of the bathroom, though. My favorite is laundry. I think because you get a feeling of accomplishment when it's done.
I can't say any of the household chores are favourites but in order of preference, doing the laundry would be at the top and dusting and vacuuming, which are equally disliked, are at the bottom of that preference list.
Among laundry chores, I most dislike ironing. I'll go to great lengths not to iron. I find folding quite calming, perhaps because out of chaos comes order.
I like doing laundry, specifically the sorting/folding of clean laundry, warm from the dryer.
Least favorite is cleaning the shower and tub. We just redid the master bath and took out the big tub we had to dust because we never used it and replaced it with a giant shower we use every day. I've really enjoyed my showers so far since the old shower stall was very cramped, but as I watch the water spraying around the entire thing it's dawning on me what I have done. Argh!
One of my favorite book quote, which fairly sums up my opinion of chores.
"As for sweeping the floor, polishing the windows, dusting, and general drudgery of that sort... well, if women's work was never done, why trouble about how much of it wasn't being accomplished at any given moment?"
Not a fan of chores at all - so many more interesting and fun things to be doing but if I must - I prefer cooking and ironing.
Least faves would be - bathrooms and dusting
My fav is also cooking and I have become very good at it. I cook way more during the Covid but I think it takes years to become an confident and accomplished cook. I am nit a bragging type of person but I will on this!
I hate to fold laundry. The only thing I fold now are dish towels because I have toin order to fit in the drawer. Everything else (pants, shirts, etc) is either hung up or tossed (underwear) into a laundry basket to be put away. Such a boring activity!!
Most chores are ok once I get started, my problem is I am a procrastinator.
Worst chore for me is definitely washing/drying the dishes! that's the one I actually don't procrastinate on, I make myself do it ASAP because I want it taken care of.
I do not mind keeping my house clean! My DH does upstairs and I do downstairs. We do a big cleaning every two weeks but also do some cleaning every day. I do not mind laundry. I use bona on my floors. It makes them clean and shiny. We have all wood floors downstairs. I hate emptying the dishwasher.
