Boring title. Awesome effect. Let the GIF load after clicking the link. It's too large to post here.

I loved that! I want to do it too, although I wouldn't want to clean up the mess afterwards. I saw his gloves, not being a science person, how dangerous is it?

Thanks!

My oldest is studying catalase reactions and did that very thing in our kitchen.

If you use drug store hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) it's not that messy. If you use the stuff from the beauty supply store, it's a bit messier. It's white without food coloring and the clean up is a breeze. The H2O2 breaks down to H2O and O2 so that's no big deal and the foamy stuff is simply dish soap.

Pretty amazing.

It's really not that dangerous. There are no fumes and the main danger is that H2O2 can bleach clothes (but usually the drug store stuff won't). I'd stand back or wear some sort of safety goggle simply to keep the soap out of your eyes.

It's a fun trick for the kids to do...

DH did that with my 3rd graders before Christmas...well, he did the one with yeast, but same basic effect and that one lasted almost 15 minutes. The directions called it "Elephant Toothpaste."

Lots of fun and easy to clean up. I love my job.
