Boothbay Harbor, Maine

I'm so excited. Just booked a vacation to Boothbay Harbor, Maine, for late July/ early August of this summer!

I'm looking for suggestions and ideas of things to do and see. My travel companions consist of 7 adults (ages range from 30-60) and a 7 year old boy. We've rented a large SUV, so we'll be able to drive some distance if necessary.

TIA!

If you want to go shopping Freeport (LLBean and lots of outlet shops) is about an hour away.

Trip Advisor has a list of things to do in the area

Not sure how far Bar Harbor is, but I would not miss this national treasure.

Love Boothbay Harbor! Take a ride around the bay, shop, lunch, ice cream. Boothbay is so charming. I think I like the town more than Bar Harbor. Of course, Bar Harbor is special, too. Acadia National Park is beautiful.

Boothbay Harbor is a beautiful little town with cute shops in the downtown area (if anyone is a popcorn fan, stop by Coastal Maine Popcorn!). The Botanical Gardens is one of my favorite places to visit. I would suggest booking either a whale watching or some sort of boat tour while youíre there. Itís well worth the time.

Since youíll have a vehicle, you might want to consider some day trips to places like Brunswick, Rockland (take a walk on the breakwater), Bailey Island and Portland (visit the Portland Headlight and the Old Port). If you like shopping, Freeport is a favorite shopping destination. In the summertime LL Bean has free concerts outside of their flagship store that are always great.

Hereís a good link for local beaches and for some that are more of a drive, but worth a visit! Morse Mountain isnít on this list, but if you want one of the most secluded beaches in Maine this is the place to go. https://topsideinn.com/blog/boothbay...maine-beaches/

As someone who has lived in Maine her whole life, I could go on and on about where to go and places to eat feel free to send specific questions if you have them.

Love Boothbay!

It is fun to walk around and visit all the shops! If you go to the jewelry store ( A Silver Lining on Townsend Ave.) wave to my friend, she has worked there on weekends and summers for over 25 years now!

The Botanical Gardens are beautiful.

There is a tiny little Aquarium.

There are a lot of little charter boats you can take and go on a whale, puffin, lighthouse, seal cruise.

You can ferry out to Burnt Island.

See a show and have dinner at the Carousel Music Theater.

Visit the Boothbay Railway Museum.

Barrett Park is a nice little nature reserve for a walk.

Eat at the Lobster Dock!

Bar Harbor would be about another 3 hour drive beyond Boothbay, but Portland (The Old Port) and Freeport ( L.L.Bean flagship store) are fairly close.

Eat them often. They can't be found in most of the country.
