What makes life easier for you?

C’mon, there must be tips and brags you have to share.

Things that simplify my life:
*I’m fine eating the same foods repeatedly.
*Library books on Kindle and iPhone
*Grocery shopping 1x per month (this saves me a ton of money, too)
*Amazon
*Walking is a habit, not an option.

What about you?

Nothing about my life seems easy right now

I use pickup or delivery services for most of my shopping.

I mostly wear black pants for work and just have to choose a colorful top to throw on.

Paying someone else to do something. In my old house we had a cleaning lady twice a month. Here we have yard service. Life is too busy to try to do it all!

1. a routine
2. staying organized
3. a clean house
4. walking on a nice spring day by the water
5. going out to dinner or shopping with friends
6. amazon and Wayfair: love love
7. Most of all when my kids and husband are healthy and happy. If they're not okay, none of the above matter to me.

What makes my life easier...
1) My husband
2) My husband
3) My husband

He takes such good care of me during the school year. Honestly, he washes dishes 99% of the time, he cooks at least twice a week, he does laundry, he goes to the grocery, he puts gas in my car, he will mop if I ask him and if I sweep first. Now, don't get me wrong, he absolutely does make day to day life easier however, he can also be the opposite. He is not a communicator, he is a pack rat and our home has more clutter than I like because he doesn't get rid of things, and he is a picky eater. His idea of clean is not my idea of clean so I know that the dishes he just washed may still be dirty and the floor he mopped will still have spots. I have to let some of that go because he does love me and he is willing to help even if he doesn't put in 100% effort.

*fruit/veggie delivery to school each week, so even if I don't make it to the grocery store we still have some fresh food in the house
*expecting everyone to do their own laundry, make their own appointments, make their own meals, etc.
*library books on kindle are my salvation - always something new to read!
*another vote for Amazon, although sometimes I feel guilty for using it
*drive up orders at Target (when they actually have what I need)
*wearing the same thing every day (black pants and a school/literary/comfortable top)
*little/no personal maintenance - I don't do makeup other than mascara and sometimes eye liner, I don't "do" my hair, I don't really do anything other than shower every night and wash my hair a couple times a week

Simplicity

Things that simplify my life include:
Really good and super quiet air conditioning, a necessity in the desert.
The very convenient location where I now live. Everything is nearby.
My modest sized house which came remodeled but to which I’ve added the extra improvements that are important to me.
My new “senior shower” which is safer, larger, and replaced the narrow bathtub shower combo with glass doors I hated. I’m seventy, it was time!
I can walk out the door and choose from three pleasant walks for me and my dog.
No makeup, no nail polish, easy maintenance haircut, lots of t-shirts.
My lovely backyard that mesmerizes and relaxes me daily.
The housekeeper and gardener for whom I’m very grateful.
And the BEST for last: Good friends and my cat and dog!!

Having my groceries delivered is my silver lining of COVID. As long as I can afford it, it's a must.

So many things and habits!
Old 03-12-2022, 01:43 PM

Every Saturday or Sunday, I:
-refill my refillable K cups
-prep/pack 5 lunches for the week
-make a menu and grocery list with DH
-we prep and/or cook for the week's dinners- chop veggies, brown ground beef/chicken, make a "batch" of rice, etc.
- place on a hanger each day's outfit for work: black pants, colorful top, underwear, and bra- grab a hanger in the AM and I'm dressed
All this maybe takes 2 hours and makes weeknights SO less tiring.

Other things:
-basic work "uniform" of black pants, colorful top, scarf or necklace
-curbside pick up for shopping and takeout
-low key make up: mascara, liquid blender/concealer stuff, light bronzer and tinted lip balm
-once a month housecleaner
-my Body Groove streaming subscription
-storing sheet sets in bundles inside a pillowcase
-having a DH whose cleaning likes/dislikes compliment mine

What a great way to reflect on our lives. Thank you, Amiga.

*I love that my DH and I share the household responsibilities.
*Right after retirement, before Covid, I was determined to get rid of clutter. It is so nice to be close to clutter free. It is amazing how it clears the mind.
*I am still creating my own little office/craft room that represents all my passions.
*I find that I do well with routines. I get to the pool early and return with plenty of my day ahead of me.
*DH and I have a regular schedule around the evening meal and entertainment. It allows us to do our own thing during the day and then come together in the evening for quality time together.
*Someone comes to clean the house every other Monday.
*I love my dinner boxes that come with 3 nights' meals. They help me to provide a variety of tastes that I might not try. It helps that DH is very appreciative of the effort. They also help me to be more creative on the evenings when we don't have a box meal. If I lived alone, I would probably be more like Amiga.
*Online ordering, shopping and curbside pickup are my friends.
*I love my weekly grocery delivery.
*My kindle, Libby, and Audible are always loaded with something to enjoy.

1) No kids
2) I've never been someone who is materialistic or has an eye for the "finer things." This makes spending/budgeting etc. so much easier. I couldn't pick out an expensive purse or clothing out of a line up if my life depended on it, for example, and that just makes things easier for me. We all have our vices (mine is food, haha) but this has just never been one of mine.

Things don't really feel easy right now, but some things that help:

- I'm really low maintenance so my morning routine is fast and simple.

- Routines such as doing laundry every weekend and setting 5 outfits for my youngest son out for the week.

- I finally found a style of jeans I like so I bought 6 of them. We're allowed to wear jeans at school. So I just need to decide on a top each day.

Like you I can eat the same foods repeatedly which makes it easier to shop and know what is healthy, low calories, sugar, carb, etc.

My 4 minute commute and 2:10 ending to the school day is another.

Buying books from my iPad and reading them on the iPad.

An app for my gym to register for classes so I don’t get closed out.
Time to shot for groceries in retirement whenever and wherever I want.
Cooking for the week not restricted to weekends since I am not working.
My new dishwasher does a fantastic job.

Hello Fresh definitely. I don't have to shop or pick recipes. Feels like we only eat 3 times a week.

Downgrading expectations. Who cares if my house is spotless? No daily/weekly regular appointments or committments. Do what and when you want.

Not retired. Empty nest though.
