I often times get school lunch. We have a very good lunch program and 95% of all of the food is prepared in house from scratch. We have our own green house which supplies most of our fresh vegetables, we grow our own potatoes so those are always fresh. When I am not having "hot lunch" I have leftovers from home.
I eat leftovers almost daily. It's so easy. I just put a portion in a small glass container when I'm cleaning up from dinner. Then I grab it in the morning, along with a Greek yogurt and a bag of grapes and a bottle of water.
If I don't have leftovers, I get a can of soup and a bowl, plus the same other items.
I make double of whatever I make for dinner and then bring it for lunch. That way I don't have to worry and I already know the Smart Points for WW. I also always have something frozen in case I eat out or whatever.
I usually make a big batch of chicken salad (just chicken and mayo) on Sunday and that is lunch for the week. I make it different each day by adding different fruits or by varying between wrapping in lettuce leaves, tortillas, or just eating it with a fork. If I cook during the week, which isn't often these days, I make enough to have leftovers for lunch for some variety.
I usually take leftovers to heat up. I like a nice, hot lunch. I've also found that when I do that, a week of sandwiches seems like a nice change in routine and I appreciate them more.
As we speak, I'm making a big batch of tomato bisque soup. I often make it, fill up 8 oz. mason jars with it, and stick them in the freezer. Then when I don't have leftovers, I can grab a jar of homemade soup for a healthy lunch.
I cook almost every day during the week. There are only 3 of us now in the house, so I make sure there are leftovers for all of us (including my elderly mom who is home by herself). If there are no leftovers, I take a SmartOnes or Lean Cuisine. I usually add a yogurt or a fruit.
I take a small half a sandwich tupperware size of Chicken Noodle Soup, Chili or something soup-like with me to work for lunch. I can't eat that much because of lapband surgery but I do try to hit something with a lot of protein.
If I were to take a full can of soup, I would have complications with my band so a lot of my soups and lunches are homemade and made on the weekends and frozen.
I usually have a sandwich or salad and some fruit and cheese. Occasionally I'll go out with a coworker for a wrap or burger but not often. No school lunches around here.
