Since we’ve been discussing the PT site and the ads, I have a question:
Who decides what ads we see? Are they related to the site or to the individual person using the sight?
It’s something that never occurred to me before, and I only vaguely notice the sidebar and bottom ads. But in the last three days, an ad for what I assume is for a “dating” site (read this as probably porn) keeps popping up at the bottom.
I never click on them because I’m afraid of a ton of follow up spam.
I was getting ads for pallets for a few days. I haven't googled those nor am I interested in them. At one time I was getting an ad for guns. No interest and no googling.
I’m getting ads for Amazon Fresh and Pandora today- nothing that I’ve even remotely looked at. Other days ads will appear for things I have recently been viewing online.
I usually don’t even “see” them. So I went back and looked for them in different boards and threads. I found ads for Hit and Miss and American Express in the lounge and Ashley Furniture in the Retired Board.
I don't know how they decide on the ads. I saw Universal Studios Hollywood and Vionic canvas shoes, and just now it changed to Charles Schwab. Oops, it is now an ad for YETI. Now I'm seeing a FEMA ad to make plans for a natural disaster. Go figure.
