I was a little put out yesterday to learn of family member who was caught shoplifting. She's nice enough on most days, but I would definitely describe her as selfish and mostly prone to doing things without thinking. Her worst quality is that she won't listen to reason and never learns from her mistakes.
She went to a boutique shop to get her nails done yesterday, which I think is funny to begin with. She doesn't have the money for services like that and let's be real, nice nails are not going to make a huge improvement for her.
Once she was done she leaves the booth and wanders around the shop. They have food and treats she also cannot afford, so as the title suggests you know what she did next. And she was caught immediately. She sniffed out a rawhide treat too big for her and started chewing it as if it was hers. My wife paid for it to avoid prosecution, but I don't think she should have. Molly shouldn't have taken it even if she was hungry, but I think the groomer bears all the responsibility. They put the treats there at eye level, which for Molly is like a foot off the ground. Personally I would have left Molly there to take the fall, but it probably wouldn't have worked. I think they have our address and phone number.
Next groomer we find will be strictly cash transactions.
I understand the heartbreak of finding out a close family member is an opportunistic thief. But those types of stores just temp them with treats within easy reach. They are taking advantage of a vulnerable population, one that doesn't understand the societal give and take. The stores are to blame!
This beast did the same exact thing at the dog wash yesterday. It's their fault - open bins so low a corgi can get to them, what did they would happen?! at least our dogs smell/look better now.

I was all ready to say how tragic it is in today's society that an elderly person has to steal to eat and then I came to the rawhide. I admit it took me a few moments to get who you were talking about. Thanks for the laugh.
