My school has given me a small amount of money to purchase some Christian childrens books. Does anyone have any must-have ideas? I teach second grade, so First Communion is a high priority topic. I already have "The Weight of the Mass" as a must. Thanks for your help!

I just saw the book Jesus A-Z by Kevin Graham at a book store and it was awesome. I also teach at a Catholic School.

I have a children's illustrated Catholic Encyclopedia that is great too, but I don't know the author.

There are some wonderful books out there on Mother Theresa too.

Janette Oakes (sp) has a series of books on Animals. One is about a dog named Spunky (Spunky's Diary). Other animals are pig, skunk, turtle, lamb, etc. They all have a Christian character trait they focus on. I have these at school so sorry I don't have more info. They are great readers and I think your second graders could read them.

I love Jeanette Oke (sp?) books, but had no idea that she had a series for younger children. Thank you so much for sharing this info!

I haven't seen the A-Z Jesus one either, but I know other A-Z books are great. I'm sure there are a lot of things you could do with that book.
