We’ve rented a cabin at a state park for a few days next week. We’re taking our dog. We think she’ll be fine. She’s really pretty mellow, and loves riding in the pickup. Anytime she sees the door open and she’s outside, she makes a beeline for it and basically refuses to get out. She’s just a smidge spoiled.
We usually board her when we’re out of town, but the only cabin available was pet friendly. We figured we’re paying for it, so why not, and DS was super pumped when we told him. It’ll definitely be an adventure. Regardless of how she acts, at least she’s cute.
As I was reading your post I had just finished watching an episode of Ken Burns "The National Parks: America's Best Idea". It focused on Yellowstone National Park and how close we came to not preserving areas of natural beauty. Enjoy your trip!
She's a cutie, and I'm sure she'll have a great time.
We thought about taking our basset hound to the beach with us in August. The house we ended up renting doesn't allow pets, so Sadie will go to the kennel. She loves it there because it is where she attends doggie day care a few days a week, and she will get to play with her friends.
Your get away sounds perfect. Enjoy your family time. Renting cabins in state parks is so enjoyable. Your post reminded me of the last time we did a big family one, we made Walking Tacos. Yum! I'm looking forward to when we can do a get away too this summer.
Thanks everyone! This is the first time we’ve gone to a state park for our family summer getaway. We usually go to a bigger city where there are things to do that aren’t found in our town, but we all just want a chance to relax and not fight traffic or crowds. DS is an outdoors kid and is looking forward to hiking and fishing.

Oh my gosh she's super cute! I hope you all have a good time. What type of dog is she?
