Fireworks and all events are cancelled here (as they should be, though I wish they could do fireworks still and have people view them from home, but people with gather ignorantly if they do ). I’m sure they’re cancelled most places too.
We are going to cookout at home, burgers and fries, with homemade apple pie and ice cream for dessert. The kids will play in the pool and we might watch a movie on our projector in the backyard. (Any kid-friendly 4th of July movie ideas?)
We are staying home, however we stay home for this holiday every year because we don't like crowds in nature. We do plan on taking a sunrise kayak trip in the morning and then coming home to fruit and muffins on the patio. DH will put ribs on the smoker for an early dinner tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow night we are going to have a bonfire in the backyard and watch all the fireworks from the surrounding farms.
We are venturing out to the grocery store early. Our Hannaford To Go order got messed up. It will be quite an adventure!!! It's been 3.5 months since we've been grocery shopping. We are out of fresh food and low on basics.
Wearing our mask and taking the hand sanitizer. I'm sure after that adventure I'll be ready to take a nap.
We are good friends with our neighbors, and every year they have a barbecue on the 4th and we swim in their pool. They only invited a few people so we can spread out in their yard. If I have to use the bathroom, I’ll walk 4 doors down and use my own!
We do fireworks at night- sparklers and fountains are allowed here.
We also launch water balloons down the road. Good, harmless fun!
My parents, my son, and I go to my sister and BIL’s every year. DH works every 4th.
We cookout, and the kids set off fireworks in a gravel driveway next to their barn. It’s surrounded by more gravel and concrete. So far we’ve never had to summons the fire department.
We don't really do much for the 4th bc our dog doesn't like fireworks. We'll probably grill something, but it's supposed to be so damn hot, we'll eat in the AC. God bless you, Willis Carrier!
We are supposed to be leaving for vacation, but not happening!
I will work on my closet project and maybe try the pool for a few hours. I'm worried it will be too crowded. If it's crowded we may decide to go to outlets as well be part way there. DH needs sneakers. I might be able to handle another store or two.
Our 4th plans are pretty quiet because today we had family over to celebrate our adult children’s anniversary. It was the first time we’d had company for lunch and things went pretty smoothly. It was so good to see them and have time to sit and visit. On the 4th we’ll fly the flag and maybe grill burgers then watch the local fireworks from our porch. It promises to be uneventful and that’s OK with us.
what we would normally do, but with a few adjustments...
my parents are bbqing. we'll head over after noon; bringing our cornhole. we'll wear our masks when in the house. we'll swim in the pool (taking turns and distancing in the backyard), and we'll eat outside.
It’s going to be hot and humid. We are staying inside by ourselves.
We usually have my mom and her SO over, but he hasn’t isolated very well during all of this, so Mom doesn’t let him visit. She doesn’t do well with heat, and we always entertain outside. This year seems best to keep to ourselves.
Heading to the beach in the morning. Leaving early. Our town beach is only letting town residents in. Those from out of state need to wait until after 1 and pay $25. That way, town residents get preference for parking. Our neighbors usually do a small fireworks display. Since there are no townwide fireworks, that is it. I’m making eggplant Parmesan. DH’s favorite. My sister lives in my neighborhood so will get together with her and her husband for a drink at some point.
We are having a family get together. We will have a cookout and swim. We will do fireworks when it gets dark. 50 acres allows for lots of social distancing.
We went to fireworks tonight. You could sit in your car or stand in front of your car. The fireworks were incredible. It was nice because everyone really was standing apart.
Everyone seems to have gone up north for the weekend, so we are hoping it will be nice and quiet here at home. We have burgers with pretzel rolls and grilled corn on the cob and I'll make a pasta salad. And then we will floss.
