Just Browsing

Something I saw in another post reminded me of when I used to browse in a store. This Christmas, I did end up having to go into Target briefly (to replace a possibly stolen gift card) and into Kohls to buy my dh an item of clothing. I was nervous in Target, even though it wasn't as busy as it was usually in a pre-pandemic time. Kohls was pretty quiet as well - but I was still uncomfortable - that's just how I feel.

As I was leaving, I thought about how much I loved just browsing in a store, and picking up a small item here or there. There are some simple pleasures of life that I miss. This isn't a complaint as I know this is my reality right now.

Does anyone else miss "just browsing?"

I havenít been in any store except the grocery store and drug store since March. I miss browsing SOOOOOOOO MUCH. I love shopping to look and feel. I miss Macyís where I can browse many departments. But I miss TJ Maxx the most, browsing, just browsing, and maybe finding gold.

Oh my gosh, yes!! It’s a huge part of my normal life, an activity I enjoy and knowing that I am supporting local businesses and helping my town’s economy. While many of those little shops reopened, too many people ignore mask and distance protocols, so I don’t feel comfortable browsing and shopping just for fun like I used to.

Browsing - miss it so much! I went to Marshalls last week for a last minute item. Like you, I wanted to look around but wasnít comfortable especially when another customer had her mask under her chin. I grabbed my item and left. I canít wait to go in a store and go up every aisle and look and touch at everything!

I miss browsing as well. It was a form of entertainment I suppose. I'd see something I liked and then look for similar items elsewhere looking for just the right one. Sometimes I'd browse in expensive stores and look for similar items in less expensive stores. It was a form of hunting, perhaps. Much like when hunters boast about shooting a "five point deer" I'd love displaying my new trophy. Guess I'm shallow, but it was calming and I miss browsing.

Before Covid I would enjoy browsing all the After Christmas sales. I would enjoy looking at all the ornaments that were not chosen and simply look for any bargains. Not this year!
I shop weekly at the grocery store. I get what we need and get out. I did go to two department stores but rushed in and left with 3 presents. Again, found what I needed and left. No time to second guess what I wanted to buy or browse what else is out there.

I probably save so much money not walking through Target or Meijers! Both do curbside so I only order what we actually need.

Most definitely . Browsing was an all day event for me..touching, trying on, comparing, discovering something new or exciting or a super bargain. And I would also frequently take myself out to lunch. Quality ďme timeĒ.

Browsing was part of my therapy after my first three spine surgeries. I could I'd be stretching my neck to look at things. It was a great way to get back range of motion.

My mental health benefited from being out among people.

I just liked to look. My husband actually learned Home Goods can be as much fun as Home Depot.

Me, too! Ross is my favorite place to browse next to all the thrift stores. I love finding something special!

I used to browse at Marshall's and Homegoods, mostly. Because you never knew what interesting little things you'd come across, and the stock changed over pretty often.
On the upside, I've saved a lot of money by cutting that out....

Twice since March, I felt an overwhelming need for normalcy. My solution was to browse the Target dollar spot. My thinking was I'm not in the store more than 15 minutes, I might find something really cute and/useful, and I wasn't going in during a busy time. It did the trick and was fairly low risk. And yes, I found cute/useful stuff!

This was the first time in years I did not visit a store for after-Christmas sales and just to look. I love to shop in person, but this year I did mostly online shopping. Now, I tend to only go to stores if it is necessary. I am not as nervous as I was at the start of the pandemic, but the nagging worry is there.

Yes! I miss it a lot! I didn't do it all that often, but I miss just going to Target, Kohl's, and JoAnn and browsing around. I'm sure I've saved money, but I'm really looking forward to being able to do that again.

I sooooooo miss wandering through Home Goods and Kirklands. Before the virus, I would save a little bit of money for a treat. It was fun and a stress reliever to search for a little treasure for my home.

I love stopping by several stores and looking for gift items as well as for myself.

I also liked going to the Good Will Store and a thrift store where proceeds go to a charity. I often found older items I could use in my mosaics at fabulous prices.

Plus there is always Hobby Lobby which makes every crafter squeal with delight. I did go once in November to buy items I needed for a holiday craft. I was in and out quickly. No browsing. Just got the needed items and checked out. Luckily it was not crowded and everyone was wearing a mask and kept their distance.

I wonder if it was my post.

Yes, I miss it SO much! I feel like it gave me ideas, let me wander, and made my day brighter.

I miss doing this in Trader Joe's. I still go, but especially since there is now a HUGE line outside every time, I feel pressure to get in and get out. I used to walk around the store several times to check out new products, because they've always got several new things. Pick up things and check out the nutritional information, etc. Every once in awhile I manage to snag something new but it is mostly going through and just quickly grabbing my "usual" stuff.

I do use the library curbside pick up, but it is so much more fun for me to go into the library with no idea of what books I'll get and browse and browse and browse! I love leaving with books I never though I'd get or even knew existed before I came in the library! The displays catch my attention, too, much more than just looking online. So does actually holding a book!
