5 pm energy slump

This is my first week back from winter break and getting back to the swing of things. Do any of you get a low energy slump at around 5 pm? I start getting tired and irritated. How do you combat this? I think it has to do with so much screen time. Help. TIA

I get the same thing. I get a snack and also take a power nap. About 15 minutes just so I can make it until my son gets home from work usually.

I get that about 2:00 instead of 5:00. Caffeine is about the only thing that gets me over that hump.

Last week was our first week back and I added 3 hours with students to my schedule (over the week). We are still remote and I was exhausted every evening. I was extremely tired on Saturday and spent the day in recovery mode.

This week is a little better. I have gotten a walk in 3 days in a row this week.

Could you be dehydrated? I always hate that question. As if teachers can just drink water because they can go to the restroom whenever they want.

What maxwell said:

As a life-long athlete, I recognized (when I was in the classroom -- now retired) that I became dehydrated the first week or so of each semester. It was entirely due to the fact that I had to "re-learn" how to take on fluids as I adjusted to limited bathroom breaks.

As the days wore on and my body acclimated to the routine, hydration problems faded and energy levels rebounded. Yay!
