Remember threadkillers from long ago?

I’m currently a threadkiller x 3, which is pretty good considering how little I post.

I do! I am a threadkiller x2 on this page right now (not counting this post, as I hope I didn't kill your thread!). I guess that's not terrible, considering how much I post

I do, I do! I’ve always looked at it as my post being the definitive answer and nothing else is needed.
Being a threadkiller is being the last to post.

Thread killer

I absolutely remember the thread killers! Some of us thought we were threadkillers when we noticed that our comments on several of the threads were last and no one else wanted to respond. To this day it’s what I call myself when my comment is last on a series 3 or 4 threads
I remember there was a group of us who kept a thread going as long as we could just to see who would be last. Then after a while, for some reason, we had to move it to some other board and kept it going on and on and on. Don’t remember who the final thread killer was, but I know Hifiman work real hard to be last.

It could be a point of pride or a dubious distinction to be the threadkiller, depending on your perspective.

Okay so now I have a vague memory of banana croquettes. Was that a thread killer or just a frequent topic of conversation?

Threadkiller

It started out because someone was upset that they were a threadkiller. It seemed that every time she posted on a thread, no one posted after that. I don't remember who the original poster was.

Linda, I'd forgotten about that. Grace, good point---where you live makes a difference.
However, my goal is to be the threadkiller on the threadkiller thread.

Ima, you kill enough threads, ya gotta have this one, too???
I was a midnight poster, which meant I was posting at 3am Pacific time quite often, which was 6am eastern time zone, which meant that no one looked at the previous days' posts and started anew. Such a sad time.

Thread killer... with laughter

You’re all making me laugh as I watch you be ‘sorry/not sorry’ about being the ultimate thread killer... or not!! .
I might have to see how subtle I can be about sneaking in at the end, too!
(CK2! Look at what you’ve started! Where will it end??)

Great Thread Killer memories

Back in 2008 TK part 1 was where I shared my eharmony dating experience with Mr Wonderful ❤️ We are still happily not married but together forever after almost 12 years.
TK part 2 was also fun, especially the coveted page turner title. Certain people would post one word per post just to race for that next page.
Lots of people have either left pt or changed names.

So it’s coming back to me, memory by memory... I remember the excitement of Mr Wonderful, chronicfun. And yes... the page turner! But I don’t remember why that was important. Maybe to start off at the top of the next page?

What’s interesting is that so many of us remembered that term ‘thread killer’ from so many years back and, to this day, silently labeled ourselves as such!

So am I remembering this right? That old threadkiller thread would go dormant for weeks or months, and then randomly someone would post on it again. Or was that another thread?

Yes, that’s true. But I also remember threadkillers referring to more than just that one long thread of renown. Threadkillers appeared on many threads of all lengths. Maybe Ima spedtchr will come back to add her thoughts. Or maybe she’ll concede.

The first TK went on for at least a couple years and was hundreds of pages long. The editors decided to delete it. I think because it took up too much space.
The second TK was allowed to be bookmarked (again, I don't trust my brain) so that it wouldn't take up space. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

The big pages-long TK threads were fun to add to. The shorter tk threads weren’t fun . They were just dead. I didn’t like being the last one, especially on a thread that seemed to have started with engaging responses.

Duty always makes me laugh. Duty sounds like doodie which makes me think of poop.
What is really bad is for our teacher evaluations we have duty#1, duty #2 and so on. So when you meet with your admin to go over evaluation it is, “duty this and duty that” and I just can NOT keep from laughing. Thank God I normally choose good bosses.

Yes! It was fun reading the original reactions when people first read ‘ M-F carts’... . After that, the question became where to find them.

random thought
I’m going to have to remember to look in a full length mirror if I ever leave the hose again. My outfits have gotten very weird now that I’m just dressing for comfort and video conferencing. I’m going to have to relearn how to mix and match clothes.
I’m also going to have to relearn how to not pee whenever I want.

It's going to feel weird to fix my hair (other than just pulling it back into a pony tail) and put on makeup--and wear shoes other than house slippers or tennis shoes.

So I went and checked. In the past week, I've killed 4 threads. Thanks to this thread, I'm not sure if I should feel proud or ashamed.
It's too bad this pandemic is happening now and not ten years ago. Can you imagine how many brain bubbles and vista print creations we could be making right now?

Ohhh!! Yesss!! I remember seeing the many ways PTers were taking advantage of professional looking posters, banners and cards! I kept wanting to come up with something, anything, just to order from Vista Print even tho I didn’t really need anything from them. Eventually there were reports of some kind of overcharging or some other thing that made me realize I didn’t need to order after all.
I have to admit, though, I bought quite a few things that I could have done without but the ‘peer pressure’ or I guess these days it would be called power of the “influencers” was strong! Ahhh, the good ol’ days!

Risa, I immediately thought of Flat Stanley too, when I read that thread about flat teachers. That was another common thread topic here back in the day. Ima Spedtchr, do you remember that too?

I was tempted so many times to give in to the peer pressure. Never could think of anything useful to make on Vistaprint, and couldn't visualize how to manage brain bubbles in my classroom. I remember thinking that made me a bad teacher. I'm over that now.

CK2, this one's for you! You started this thread, so don't leave us hanging! Right now, you should be resting your mind and your eyes. Hopefully you'll find it when you come back on-line in a few weeks AFTER you're feeling much better!
Sorry, Mrs. Lilbit! (Well, not really that sorry ) I would have come back eventually, but this time I wanted to leave this little surprise.

Now *you* surprised *me*! I kept checking back for a while, then I let it go, thinking you still needed a lot more time to recover. It's been a while since I even thought to look up this thread. I'm sorry I didn't realize, sooner, that you had discovered your little surprise!
So how are you? Are you completely recovered, by now?

Hey, CK2!! Surprise!
I caught your message on the same day AND within the hour of when you posted this! I hope you're feeling much better and able to go back to what you've missed while letting your injury get the time it needs to properly heal!
No one else has come back to try to be THE 'thread killer' so I guess it's up to you or me...
I'm waiting around for anyone who wants to jump on in to go for the dubious bragging rights of PT THREADKILLER! I'll leave the warning, however, that I sure do seem to be (unintentionally) 'killing' lots of threads, lately!

Hi, CK2! I think we'll have to go to 150 posts before it goes to the next page.
We need others to jump in here before that... or maybe they will, just as it gets to 140 posts on this thread to see if they make it to be the FIRST at the top of the NEXT page.
I wonder if anyone else will join us again?
OR... (gasp!) maybe we've been abandoned!! Haha!

Hooray, that was #100! Now for the next goal, to bump it to a second page of posts. Yeah, if it’s just the two of us it may take a while. But I’m game if you are!

NOPE! Looks like Risa is right, as we knew she would be.
I couldn't let your love fest just go on. But I'm not sure if I'll remember to come back, either

The Grace has returned with the CK2!

Wellll.... Lookie here! GraceKrispy has come to join us! (Where's the applause emoji or button when I need one!? )
How fun to come back to see who else has been here! So now I'm in the honored presence of the first two people who started this thread about a hundred posts ago.
So CK2 has returned, Grace has returned, and I've returned... Now I'm hoping even more will come back, but without actually being asked to return...
I wonder... maybe if we put our collective good vibes together, could we mentally summon others who have contributed to this thread in the past to come add to our fun?? (Well, okay... maybe this kind of FUN is not ' going to Disney for the day' kind of fun, and maybe not ' a day on the beach jumping the waves' kind of fun but sitting in front of the computer on PT kind of fun! Haha!
And,yes, I'm a bit goofy for no particular reason, sometimes... like now...

Hi Everyone! I don't have any Disney World type fun, but I thought you all should know that today is Neville Longbottom's 40th birthday, and tomorrow will be Harry Potter's 40th.
It's silly how happy it makes me that this thread is still going.

Thread with no tread...

What!??!
No additional posts to this thread since my last post?
Hmmm...
Well, I have to admit, there's no real theme here...
No burning questions to answer...
No problems to solve...
No fun surveys to complete...
No 'teaching during covid' vents to make...
No political points to make... (Thank goodness!)
No birthday wishes to offer...
No teaching tips to share...
No pet photos to post...
No advice to suggest...
No PT doc questions...
And so... no additional posts!
So will I get to be THEEEE Threadkiller Supreme ?!?!??
 Only time will tell!
 Hahaha! Such silliness!

Awwww! You caught me! There goes 'my' trophy!
Hey! I just thought of this...
We can compare this thread to the Jerry Seinfeld show! That show was said to be 'a show about nothing'... and this thread is about nothing, too!
OUR THREAD is AS GOOD as "The Jerry Seinfeld show" was!! Wow!! Who knew??!!
How's that for twisting logic around!?!

Hard to believe we’re still coming back to this thread that CK2 started waaaaaay back in April when we still thought we’d get past this Corona virus in a few weeks... or months... but I didn’t think (back then) that we would still be in pandemic mode in OCTOBER!!

Yay, it’s still going! I did not remember it started way back in April! I have had an eventful six months. Hopefully six months from now life for us all will be more like normal.

How will we know when it reaches its second page?
How pathetic that that is my current goal in life.

Hooooooraaaayyyy! We have visitors to our little sandbox in this corner of PTLand! Welcome one and all!
Now, kahluablast, you got my curiosity going...
Why did you tell your students you would see them in December?
Is it due to Covid mandates in your area?
An extra long Thanksgiving break?
A self-imposed "I got too much going on" break?
Umm... You need to clean the lint out of your dryer? (Yes... just bein' silly here...)
OH! I know! I know! Let's make this into a game! (Psst! Kahlua... don't give us the real answer just yet...)
Sooooo ... Any one else have guesses to make?
OH... And Trojan! How'd you happen to wander over here... I'm surprised someone could just wander over since it's such an old thread!

Hahaha, CK2! You started this thread! You've already accomplished quite a bit with the fact that we still come back to check in now and then! If you're pathetic, I'm pathetic so I say, nooooo... Not pathetic at all... since we keep coming back to this sandbox! *whistling to myself as I saunter away*

If Kahlua is like me, she thought today was Friday all day. Next week is Thanksgiving break , and maybe she was (wishfully) thinking the following Monday was December 1.

Wow, lots of visitors and additions to the thread today! Yes, tctrojan, how did you find this after so much time?
Wishful thinking, kahluablast? Or if she’s like me, the days blend together so much it’s hard to keep track of the date.
But don’t let me have the last word!

Just thought I'd drop by to say hello to all my fellow non-thread killers in this thread. If no one comes after me, I'M THE THREADKILLER here! Unfortunately, I seem to be doing my fair share of thread killing on several other threads...
So the news today is that the Covid vaccine is here in the U.S. and several healthcare workers have gotten the first few injections. This thread was started during our first months of Covid self-isolation, maybe it will end in the last few months of pandemic status. I wonder when that will happen?

Well, hello everyone! How fun that this is still going.
Risa, I won’t have you be threadkiller on this one, not yet anyway. Very thoughtful, thinking of when this thread started and wondering if it will also end when the pandemic ends. When? When??
Happy holidays to each of you!
