Book: My Dark Vanessa

I just finished My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell. It's a novel about a young girl who falls in love with a teacher and he basically destroys her but she never ever sees it that way. It shows the perspective of a victim. I loved the author's writing style. She made me feel like I was there and I wanted to reach into the book and shake someone. She made it easy to feel strongly about the characters in the book. I recommend it.

Thanks. I just placed a hold on it in my Libby app. I now have five things on hold ( the maximum amount) that are all books that were recommended here on PT :-)

I just started reading Into the Darkest Corner yesterday, another PT recommendation. I am enjoying it so far, though the jumping back and forth in time it's a little confusing.

I found it so fascinating. After reading it you can totally understand how those kind of things happen.

I really enjoyed the book. It is uncomfortable and disturbing but very well written.

I put a hold on it after seeing it in one of the book threads here. There's a long wait for it- I think it was 15 weeks!

That book is one that I couldn't put down, but also can't recommend. It was SO disturbing to me! It stayed with me for days, and not necessarily in a good way.

I read it recently and I agree that it was unique to see it from that perspective. It was disturbing but fascinating (although not in a good way).
