I always like to keep a few cans of soup in the pantry to grab when I don't have a lunch packed. Sadly, the store stopped carrying (or the type was discontinued?) my favorite Wolfgang Puck soups. What are some of your favorites?
I love Trader Joe's Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato soup. It's great because I can keep the unused portion of the box in the refrigerator and use it when needed. No mixing just heat and enjoy. Unfortunately I'm out of it and just hoping for a mercy grocery delivery from my son to help me out.
Canned soup is so expensive and so high in sodium. We have family cooking parties and make massive batches of different soup and freeze single servings in mason jars. Or family servings in gallon ziplocks.
I like Progresso Chicken with Rotini, and my son prefers their Tomato with basil. I try to get the low sodium soups when I can. I love homemade soup, but I am the only one in the family who really does, so that is a rare special treat for me.
I always have chicken noodle soup in the pantry. My fave is Campbell's Homestyle. I also like Progresso's tomato basil soup. Some times I add a shot of half and half it to make it a little creamy.
I agree, though, that soup is pricey for what it is, and even the low sodium ones are still high in sodium IMO. Whenever I roast a chicken, I cook down the bones and skin with some basic seasoning and freeze it for a flavorful broth base. I also make and freeze cream of mushroom soup.
All time favourite...cream of tomato. Made with milk. Not water. That and a grilled cheese sandwich is still my ultimate comfort food. We went home for lunch as kids and my mom would make it regularly in the winter.
I recently discovered Campbells Everyday Gourmet Creamy Thai Chicken & Rice. It is delicious.
I agree about the sodium. That’s why I will have a can or two in the pantry, but only really have one every two or three months.
I really liked Progresso's lite version of their Cheesy Chicken Enchilada but have not been able to find it anywhere lately Their tomato basil is good and their zesty chicken
I like Campbell’s double noodle.
I also like Campbell’s chunky chicken and dumplings or chicken pot pie.
Campbell’s vegetable beef is also good.
I grew up on Campbell’s, and it somehow tastes like “home” to me.
