I am curious how much time you set aside for play in your kindergarten classroom. Thank you for your help and insight.

When I taught kinder a couple years ago we had two 15 minute recesses. That was it. No play centers or anything. Of course I usually tried to stretch it out. Bc that was not nearly enough.

This is a very late reply but I have 30 minutes each morning mon-thurs, and an hour and a half on Friday. Plus we have a total of 60 minutes of recess throughout the day.

Once a month we have a day long field trip to the park. We spend 30 minutes on science and they play the rest of the day.

That is amazing. i love the playtime. Love it. Sadly I've been using that time to meet individually with kids. I'd like to just play with them and listen. Maybe I could divvy up the time or days. What kind of park do you go to? That sounds so wonderful. Don't they get crazy after a certain amount of time or do you set the ground rules? Lucky kids to be in your room!
