i got so many that I had to add an app to screen them out. With this app, you add a white list of contacts and block out all others.

I was listening to the podcast Perfect Scam this morning and thinking about just this issue.

There’s a poster on PT who has described on several occasions how she toys with scam callers. Perfect Scam advises against this; they say that the longer you’re on the phone with them, the better it is for them. They said scammers call back those who stay on the line and also sell their numbers to other scammers. Their advice was to hang up immediately.

Scam calls are one reason why I never answer my phone.

We’ve stopped answering calls from unknown callers. It must work because we’ve gotten fewer calls.

It’s a shame that we have to ignore phone calls. I once tried to call a colleague of mine from work about something I thought was important and she didn’t answer her phone because she didn’t recognize my number.

Scam calls seem to go in cycles. We get lots for days and then almost none for a while and the cycle repeats. Currently in the lots cycle. It's just after 9:30am and we've already received two.

I am on the Do Not Call list, so I report them all. I've been getting Medicare scam calls about knee braces.

Yeah, I’ve had some threatening messages from “Social Security.” I submitted one of them to the SSA. I have deleted them, but they are creepy.

I’ve turned off my ringer. I had a conversation by app with the app developer. She called me for a test and the message that a robo caller gets is: “We’re sorry, but the number you’ve called is out of service” 😂

This week my social security number has been suspended, they need to talk to me about my knee braces, calls that caller id labels scams, and today my car warranty is running out. One car is a 2001. The other is a 2003. I think our warranty lapsed a while ago.

While you and I know these are scams they do get some people to bite. A lady I know fell for the grandchild was arrested and needs money (in the form of gift cards) scam.

When people sign up for social security, they need to be warned by the SSA about these scams and not to fall for them. I know the AARP does.

Scam calls

I got three calls this week, all of which left voicemails. My SS number is about to be suspended but if I call the numbers back, they'll connect me to a SS representative. Yeah, right!

No calls for a while, then several this week. I never answer and always block the numbers.
