I am wondering if anyone knows how to get free art materials as I am working in SEN charity organization, we have no funds to support the art class.

I'm a new art teacher and have been web surfing to get info.

Ideas I've found:
contact hazardous waste collection site and ask for paint, paint thinner, etc.

Register with Prang paint and have students and school purchase products and turn in box tops.

Order free shipping supplies from USPS.

Make a list to either go on school website or home that has a wish list.

Ask local businesses that have supplies to donate.

I've never used it personally, just happened across it while I was searching for art supplies for a DonorsChoose project. Unlike DC, anyone can put a project on here, and from what I could gather reading it, people can come and buy the items or donate the money, and the teacher chooses what to get with the money once it's donated. So, where as with DC if you don't get it all funded, you don't get the project, with this one you could get part, even if you don't get all!!

I'm going to try one when school starts and see if we can get art stuff for our new art class...

Just a Thought or Two...

Check with area businesses such as...
1) a printer that might have paper stock they don't use
2) furniture stores for cardboard to be primed/painted, used for printmaking, and of course, sculpture lessons
3)paint store that has off-tints that were mismatched when mixed (extra cans of paint for free or a couple of dollars)

Take a photo of your program with children and write a newspaper article in which you express a need for yarn, paint, paper, etc. Individuals will clean out their closets for you.
