I discovered that I really like cooking/baking again! I am not making anything fancy. I love trying out new recipes, some of which were delicious and others not so much.
What did you discover about yourself in retirement?

I discovered that I no longer enjoy cooking. I admire you, but I’m done.

I discovered that it’s a really good time to think. I’m more relaxed, more easy-going, happy to listen, and willing to consider my own needs.

I think as wives/parents/teachers/caretakers, we put others first for most of our lives. Now it’s time for me—and I’m shocked to hear that from family and friends. “You deserve this,” they say. Just lovely.

I am a lot lazier than I thought. I planned to be really productive with all my crafts, but I have not been so busy with any except baking.

LaFish you like to try new recipes. I have tried quite a few of the recipes for baked goods from this site and not one has been less than delicious. https://www.browneyedbaker.com/

If you don't make anything else, try the chocolate cup cakes with Guinness beer, Irish whiskey and Bailey's Irish Cream.

After I retired I became very interested in plant based nutrition and took a year-long nutrition course with certification. It also sparked a renewed interest in cooking, this time simple but very nutritious meals. I enjoy trying new recipes and right now I'm on an Indian kick, learning how to blend spices to make simple dishes palatable.

After a fast and furious six years home improvements in my retirement, I am now immobilized by a lack of motivation. I move pretty fast under deadlines like company coming, but most days I have to give myself lectures to get up and get busy. My only solution is to periodically have parties or overnight guests.

I have discovered that I am so much more than a teacher. I am a very creative person with a variety of interests.

I am still pretty new to this but I am discovering that I really have little to no interest in teaching anymore. This totally shocks me because I enjoyed it and it was well, my life

I have always liked to cook. Since I was a teen. When I was a single gal, I would cook Italian dishes and make my homemade pizza for friends. Teaching put a crimp in my culinary life!

Now retired, I enjoy having time in the kitchen. Not every night since we always have left overs, but I like having time now to try new recipes.
