My situation is a little different. I work at a private school (first year here - was in Public for over 10). I am teaching 4th grade. Most of my students have been together since Pre-K (VPK here). Their 2nd grade teacher looped up to third with them and now I will be teaching them fourth. They know each other VERY WELL but not me. I am having them introduce each other - draw names and they have to tell what they know about that student.

I am not spending too much time on ice breakers since they know each other. Instead I am going to do a few back to school activities (following directions one, multi intelligence survey, reading survey, etc...).
The good thing about you and your kids knowing each other, you can skip a lot of those things. Maybe focus on team building activities instead of ice breakers - since you really don't need them.
