We now have 4 very active and destructive fires surrounding our local area. Almost every other surrounding districts have closed, but NOT ours. NOPE! Instead we are on a modified shelter in place, with no breaks or conference periods.

Going to be a LONG day!

Update... Main district canceled school for Thursday and Friday.

How dysfunctional can a system become? Is attendance down? Call your local news station.

A few missing in my first section, but only one in my second. Not sure how many teachers we have out.

Situation is more about air quality than actual danger from the fires, but you're right. Dysfunction is a great description.

I live just south of the Santa Rosa fires. Some of the schools closer to the fire area were closed because of air quality. We stayed open, but had indoor recess/lunch. A lot of our schools also canceled after-school activities.

Just seeing a picture on the news was frightening. Maybe the district was thinking that the children are safer at school under supervision than possibly home alone while parents are working. I'm sure you are all on edge with the threat looming so close.
